1. Any particular reason?
I mean, of course I was going to listen to Rush anyway, but if I am going to listen to even more than usual I need to know why.

4. Poeple should listen to Rush every *@(*%# day
One of the most incredible bands ever - some serious fucking musicianship in that group, equalled only perhaps by Yes, Robert Fripp, Zappa, and some few others.

Goddamn amazing.

23. I agree...Alex Lifeson has always been one of my favorite guitar players.
Geddy and Neil aren't bad, either! I'm always amazed when I see Rush live that Geddy can do so many things at once! He's playing bass, working some foot pedals, playing synthesizer, and singing!

I was reading an article in a guitar magazine the other day about Alex Lifeson and the writer mentioned that these guys have been making music and touring for 30 years!! That is pretty impressive.

33. And I love that they have continued to learn and experiment and practice
I don't see that in many bands, where the members spend time practicing and learning new ways of playing and in which their skills continue to improve.

Most rock bands are just rock musicians; but Rush, and a few others (David Bowie, Robert Fripp, Steve Vai, etc.), are more catalogable as musicians who happen to work in the rock genre; up there with the classically trained serious musicians like Heifetz or Pavaroti or Yo Yo Ma.

10. I agree, but I can't tonight...
I'm writing a paper on Frank Zappa for my grad class, so I've been listening to him a lot today. When I'm not writing, I'm working on programming the entire orchestral score for "Bye Bye Birdie" into my keyboard, so I'm listening to that as well. (Everything is done but the Entr'acte. I'm mostly adding reverb and tweaking the mix and tempos now.)

11. Hey we must be of the same "era" of rock music. I had the vinyl of
"Farewell to Kings" when I was in high school. I must say I always felt they were overrated though, a band where the quality of the songs and music didn't live up to the instrument virtuosity of the players.

I did use to love cranking up the decibels on "Xanadu" when my parents weren't home though, LOL. Probably still have some hearing loss from that.

I will totally agree with you on Zeppelin though. They were the complete package. I never really understood how people even listened to much of what passed for "metal" in the 80s and 90s.

24. Limelight is a good choice
but my favorite from Moving Pictures has to be Red Barchetta

But my alltime favorite is Closer to the Heart! It's both romantic AND rocking!

Geez, no wonder there are so many fricking pictures of Robert Plant with major camel toe
