1. The Redd Foxx album cover may be bad, but that's pretty solid advice,
you have to admit.

I'm now on the lookout for that Hawaiian album, and of course the Colonel's Tijuana Picnic. That's one picnic I'd have mixed feelings about attending. Spanish Fly in the cole slaw, perhaps?

The one that goes with this album. Tell ya what. Redd Foxx was one crude, profane mothereffer.

60. The Louvin Brothers designed the cover of Satan Is Real....
Charlie & Ira Louvin created the cardboard Devil. And the fires they set made the rocks begin to explode. Somehow, nobody was killed during the photo shoot.

The Louvin Brothers recorded both Gospel & Secular music. They sang Gospel with the same power as Johnny Cash or Hank Williams. That is, they suspected that they were Hell-bound--but they still believed. Ira was the mad genius of the pair--he drank, married numerous times & died on a car wreck about the time Patsy Cline died in a plane crash. (That's Ira on the right.)

Gram Parsons loved the Louvin Brothers. He put "Christian Life" on Sweethearts of the Rodeo, although Roger McGuinn sang the solo on the LP. Gram also recorded "Cash on the Barrelhead" & "The Angels Rejoiced." And Emmylou carried on the flame....

69. Once upon a time
I owned one of these-- the Fireballet album. It was almost as lame as it looks.

There used to be a company called JEM Records, who made a fair amount of money importing LPs from England and Europe. Especially in the area of so-called "progressive" rock, there would often be a delay of some months between a record being released in England and in the USA, and rabid fans would be unwilling to wait for the American edition (and/or they believed that the import was a better pressing), so they'd happily pay a premium for the import. And some of these records never came out in America (e.g. King Crimson's Earthbound).

Eventually they made enough money doing this that they started their own record company and put out their own records, and Fireballet was one of their artists. They were prog-rock wannabes, and the story was that one of them worked in JEM's mail room (so he could hear the new stuff early). So if you're just dying to hear weak imitations of King Crimson, Yes, Van der Graaf Generator et al, this is the record for you! (As the title sort of indicates, this was their second record. The first one was better-- or at least the imitations were better imitations.)
