Background - I'm selling my car before we move to Japan, so I'm advertising it on craigslist. Here's one of the replies I got.

here in togo. one of my client saw this ur ECONOMICAL FORD ESCORT
WAGON, he was so intrested to buy it from u. that is the reason why
am contact u to make a deal with u. Is ready to get the car now.the
price u want to sell it is $1,500.But the price am giving he is
$6,500. plz when u get the money u will return the remain balance for
me and am asure u that out of the remaining $5,000 u will get $1,000.
And due to payment he sad he will giving u cashier check.plz i want u
to get back to me as soon as u get this mail.

I suppose this is one of those things where they try to appeal to your greed to con you out of some money, but for the life of me, I can't even figure out what he's asking me to do! LOL. Sad that they can't even scam up enough money to hire a proofreader!

1. Yup, this one is around a lot on Craig's list

And otherwheres, and sadly, does nab people. They want to send you a check for way more than you're asking, then have you send them back the difference. And then it turns out the check is a fake, and you're out all that cash, *and* your vehicle, if you ship it to them. Oy.
