Watching Friday's Bill Maher...I am sure this has been
discussed but man, does he not read? He brought up a JOHN STOSSEL report on leftists at universities, Maher said that Stossel reported that at Brown having sex with a drunk female is considered rape. Maher then went on to say that he once spoke at Smith College (a place he called a bastion of lesbianism) and a couple of students came up to him saying that they were not lesbians (he called them the minority on campus) and they had criticized the last episode of Ellen (the sit-com done by Ellen DeGeneres a few years back). Maher claimed that these students were harrassed and almost thrown off campus for the "hate speech" of criticizing Ellen.

He then asked Danny Glover why the "left" allows this type of behavior. Danny handled it as best he could by saying that such things were not of the left.

Oy vey!

1. yeah i thought that was bizarre
plus the harvard guy had it coming. there is enough sexism for women in science without having the head of an institution validate that sexism.

2. It is because of the sexism toward women in the hard
sciences that my cousin, who has a PhD in biochem is teaching high school chemistry. She wants to encourage girls to go into the hard sciences.

5. i have a niece with a PhD in Chem. (MIT and UC-SB making $$$,$$$.$$)
She got her degree and Master's degree from MIT in less than 4 years.

Then she got her PhD from UCal- Santa Barbara where she met a repuke getting his PhD too. They married, have 3 kids. She works for a big chemical company, travels all over the world, and has joined the dark side. He's a stay-at-home dad and home-schools their kids... Can you spell *indoctrination*? :(

6. People sometimes forget that Bill Maher claims to be a Libertarian
Stossel is one too (or claims to be).. Maher beats up on republicans, but he's "not one of us"..

the sad thing is that we are so desperate for a friendly ally, that we sidle up to people who toss us an occasional bone, and then feel brtrayed when they show their true selves

7. Maher isn't that libertarian
He supported Ashcroft locking up people in Gitmo and, when questioned about who he thinks should be president, said that Colin Powell was his ideal.

8. Some Libertarians are like that..
As long as they get to keep their tax money and can smoke marijuana, they are cool with lots of other stuff..

A lot of the ones I know are all over the place with their beliefs..and they an contradict themselves from day to day.
