No rain yet, but it's comin'... There's another front moving in fast.

We've already gotten over 3 inches of rain today alone. :woohoo:

I DO love a good storm. :bounce:

3. We just came in from outside. We were running around in the street.
We've got a humungous eucalyptus tree on the corner of our property that sounds like the ocean when the wind rushes through it. There's also lightening, though we've heard no thunder yet. Our power keeps flickering, too.

It's all very exciting and the kids are TOTALLY hyper.

I'm trying to mellow them out for bedtime and the wind isn't exactly helping, although I do love the wind, too.

:)

5. I've got two crooked willow trees in my back yard
that sound quite eerie during a good wind. Oddly, perhaps, it's kinda cool to fall asleep to. Last night would've been like that if I hadn't had a Vicodin in me. :silly:

6. Yeah, between the ocean sound of the trees and the wind chimes
it is cool to fall asleep to, but I'm usually too wound up by the wind to get very relaxed. It takes me a while....

btw, I could do a commercial for Vicodin. I love that shit. Are you doing OK? What's happening?
 for you, OR.

17. Nothin' special
I frequently have some lower back pain at night from sittin' in this furshlugginger chair so much. Last night it flared up, so I popped a Vike to help me sleep.

4. Yeah, in the winter we can get some real doozies, esp in the mtns.
Earlier in Jan. we got something like 8 inches of rain over 3 days. I love it when it gets wild and windy, though. Throw some lightening and thunder in and I'm a very happy girl.... :bounce:

So dramatic!

:hi: I guess you're up and running again, eh? Welcome back to cyberspace!

8. Cool shot, Joan!
when I was in high school, I was always so into the weather and knew the forecast so they used to call me the "weather lady", LOL.

I actually came to UC Santa Cruz originally to study meteorology and earth science. Then I discovered how much math and science that would mean and changed over to Politics. Hahaha. :D

I've been called Bird Goddess, Bird Whisper and Weather Witch.
Among my other weather related talents, I can usually tell the temperature is within a degree or two.

32. Of course you can live vicariously through me. I'm taking my laptop.
I've decided that my 1st trip out there should be on 4 wheels instead of 3. I just can't seem to downsize enough. I know I'd get bored going from one hotel to the next every night so I'm going to camp a lot of the nights along the way.

Believe it or not, I was reading your post when I heard a huge crash and went outside to find a big limb (14 inches) fell from my old maple tree. Woohoo, I've made a dent in firewood needs for next year!

Hope your maple survives OK. :hi:

24. I really think it was a huge cell that moved through
Edited on Mon Feb-27-06 11:53 PM by BrotherBuzz
First the winds and horizontal rain, followed by a huge downburst for fifteen minutes (everything but the lightning and thunder) then it moved on leaving us with just gusty winds and light rain.

Poor old maple tree was planted by my great grandfather for my grandfather many, many, years ago. PG&E gave it a death blow topping/pruning fifty years ago and it's never regained it's health. Nevertheless, it's a good wood supply for many years to come and it's good juju burning wood your ancestors planted.

Although I can't see the wind being much better in Oakland, and I dunno if San Jose or Sacramento could handle the extra traffic.

But, jeebus, yeah — that'd be rough to take off or land in. :scared:

I'm not sure of the town - something City. Heard it on the radio on my way home from my mammogram (figures - my relationship goes kaput and I have to have my boobs squeezed on the same day :wtf: ). One actually had touched down and they were telling people to get under cover. Wow!

in Solano county moving east...weird and conflicting for me with blue sky to the west but dark, dark, and boding stuff to the east. Thunder is pushing my poor Border collie over the edge and she is clinging to me like glue.
