I have seen color pics of WWII. It just seems weird.

Most photos of rallies and protests were taken by newspapers which were only black and white at that time. Color didn't come to new paper pics till later. Just a theory mind you.

And that was 10 years or so earlier. You'd think some stuff was shot on color.

It was very expensive converting everything on earth to color, and as you might imagine, it took several years. Many economically stagnant areas were actually still in black and white until shortly before Nixon resigned.

Some even earlier. And Life ran many photos of the civil rights movement.
Some newspapers didn't make the conversion until well into the '90s. I worked for one.
