Today I discovered that I am related, by blood, to........................
President Richard Milhouse Nixon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am his 7th cousin, once removed. Our common ancestors were Robert Miller and Margaret Berthwait who were Quakers living in Ireland in the 1600's.

God have mercy on my soul!

1. That's kind of like biting your tongue.
You just don't tell people about it. It's embarrassing.

23. The God is my co pilot saying was started by a P40 pilot, a fighter
pilot in the(AVG)the original Flying Tigers during world war II. I don't think it was ever originally a religous statement. It was more about a pilot alone in his plane. The religous community adopted it later.

but he had a few redeeming qualities. He started the EPA and stopped the BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs) from eliminating tribes from their roles (which, in fact, was one of its purposes for existing in the first place).

20. Many millions of Americans are related to Bush
and his father, through one of the Pilgrims who arrived on the Mayflower. Can't remember which one and I'm too busy to look it up right now. I'm included, sorry to say. If I recall, that Pilgrim also links us to FDR, so it's not quite so bad.

48. to the Bush relatives on this thread -- some of his 2nd cousins oppose him

The "Bush Relatives for Kerry" website has been taken down now, but perhaps they're planning something for this year's elections?

"SEATTLE -- Six blood relatives of President Bush who support John F. Kerry's bid for the presidency have launched a website to publicize their sharp disagreements with Bush's policies.

The site, www.bushrelativesforkerry.com, consists of personal statements from a group of decidedly liberal second cousins of the president, none of whom knows him personally. All are grandchildren of Mary Bush House, the sister of Prescott Bush, a former US senator from Connecticut and the father and grandfather of the two Bush presidents.

The introduction to the site opens with the slogan, ''Because blood is thinner than oil!" and states: ''As the election approaches, we feel it is our responsibility to speak out about why we are voting for John Kerry, and to do our small part to help America heal from the sickness it has suffered since George Bush was appointed President in 2000. We invite you to read our stories, and please, don't vote for our cousin!""

the old warhorse himself!

I met my birthmother some years ago, and she's wonderful, but a little flakey.

Chatting one day, I mentioned that SO & I had watched "Patton" the previous evening. "Oh, we're related to him." But unfortunately, no details.

Oddly enough, my S.O. has a relative who was Patton's driver during WWII (but no the one that killed him).
