Which one should I get?
Firefox? Mozilla? Opera?
I don't feel comfortable with IE anymore.

Like certain video applications and such. I was wondering if that happened to everyone.

My only issue is that the Gap website didn't work with it.

and includes, in the full release (as the 'Mozilla Application Suite', an email/newsgroup client, integrated IRC client, and HTML editor in addition to the browser. Firefox is a standalone web client application which is an evolution of the Mozilla/Netscape browser.

it's wonderful. my biggest complaint about IE was hijackers, I had to get my old computer professionally 'cleaned' after a particularly nasty one got on it, and it was from a website, not an email download. I had a firewall, Norton, and a free sweeper program. It came back again after I did everything the pro told me to do to keep it from happening again. I had to bury the poor computer after that. I got a new one, came here for advice- got firefox and a paid sweeper program (I swear those free ones download viruses and hijackers they are supposed to protect you from), not one problem since.
I cannot recommend Firefox and Mozilla more strongly.
I had to leave IE on my computer (I wanted to completely delete it, but it's wrapped up in my operating system, fucking Microsoft) and a few times, yahoo friends of mine have mistakenly opened it to use the internet while visiting, they use it for maybe five minutes. I do a sweep immediately afterwards and, lo and behold, Webroot finds a hijacker on my system. Properly quarantined of course, it does no harm. Firefox, nada!

I have been around, December had me home in Texas, taking care of my mom when she was ill. Then the holidays had me on the road for two weeks, then my husband got a new job in Jan. We moved in late Jan. and I am now settled in the Bay Area! It has been a crazy few months, but I am back on pretty regularly now, I lurked a bit during those days, but had so much going on, it was difficult to post for some reason.
Happy to be somewhat back to normal, but I am going to get a job soon- staying home is driving me crazy; so I probably won't ever be on as much as I was during the summer and fall of last year. I got a bit obsessed back then! Anyway, I missed the lounge and my lizards, sad to see a few names are gone for good. How have you been homey?

I have a job interview tomorrow for an internship. And I am getting my Master's Degree in May. So I'm not out of the poorhouse yet, but I'm getting there. I did apply for the PhD program (in Industrial/Organizational Psychology) just last week. It would be an extention of my Master's Degree, so it would only take me 2-3 more years, but at least I'll be able to get a decent job this summer.
That and I think I'm going to join a hardball league this spring.

my best friend irl is a psych person, she just got her master's in Statistical Psychology. I think that is what it's called at least. She changed her field from Counseling about a year or so before graduation, so I forget the actual title. But she is very happy now, to be DONE! That is a hell of a lot of work, so congrats are definitely in order. Hope you get the intern position, and I hope it's a paid one!
what is hardball? Is that like racquetball?

I just said hardball because when I say "baseball" people always think "softball." I can't play softball. The pitch comes in too slow, and I swing before the ball even gets there. My baseball instincts are too ingrained.
If I get into the PhD program, my thesis will be on statistics. I'm a math nerd. I just took psychometrics and multivariate statistics last semester.
This internship I am interviewing for tomorrow is paid, so I really hope I get it. I have an unpaid one to fall back on, though. I need one more to graduate, so I have to take one or the other.

I don't know what I want to be when I grow up, or if I want to grow up.
I may start up my doula biz again, and go back to school for massage therapy at the same time. Or I could just get a no brainer job and go back to school, real school and get my undergrad finally. Or get a full time job that I am qualified for, which means personal or executive assistant. I have no idea. I am tempted to jet a job at Target for the discount and figure it all out later. I feel like I am 22 and confused all over again, instead of 32. :-(

I'll know in "two or three weeks." I was the first person interviewed.
I really want to know now, though. I have to get this in before the end of the semester to graduate, and time is running out. :(

what I have. LOL. I don't know a thing about computers. But I downloaded it two days ago and I absolutely LOVE it and I am sitting here kicking myself in the rear for not getting it much sooner. I've been fixing it up, just like rearranging the furniture in the house, to make it nice and comfy for me. Two days and I'm spoiled! :) :) :)

in my experience, on both windows and macs, Firefox can be one hell of a memory hog. Some of the add ons have major memory leaks. I'm using Camino right now (Mac-only), but in general I prefer very simple browsers. What I need, no more, no less. Tabbed browsing, java/flash support, and speed
