Have I mentioned lately how much I HATE MAYTAG!!!!!???? |
|
I've usually don't hate, but I hate these f*ckers!!!! 1 week until they can install the part they ordered last week. This machine has now become absolutely worthless when placed up against the time and money I spent in being on hold, finding other places to do laundry...and there sits the 1000 dollar POS in the basement. :banghead: :grr:

who has had nothing but trouble with her Maytag washer and dryer. For one, the dryer was shredding her clothes.

have it repaired (Neptune) and it's cost $1200 in repair parts. And they don't really give a damn on how long it takes. I've made it my mission to see that no one I know buys another one of their products. :(

5. Maytag used to be a premier brand in America, made here too |
|
Edited on Tue Feb-28-06 09:28 AM by DainBramaged
And then they were sold off to a management group and all their stuff made in Mexico now. Pure crap. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2005/maytag.htmlBased in Newton, Iowa, Maytag has been squeezed by high labor costs and ruthless foreign competition. Its new owners are expected to move much of its production offshore and try to increase its pentration of foreign markets. Currently, about 12 percent of Maytag's products are made abroad.

One giant Mexican plant contract builds most of America's appliances now. A friend bought a Kitchen Aid dishwasher a couple of years ago. Someone stuffed their lunch garbage in the bin before boxing it.
Great quality control.

My mom had one... she had it serviced about 6x and they refused to just replace the whole unit. She wrote the BBB, her credit card co, and then the president of Maytag. In a week they called her and asked her when she wants a new one delivered. Keep on them and write as many people as you can. The thing finally kicked the bucket a few months ago and she got a new Whirlpool (i think - looks like the LG) and she LOVES it.. never had an issue.
I had a maytag dishwasher and the sucker broke so the tech came out and found a SCREW in it. He accused me of putting the screw in there and if he had to come out again he was going to void my warranty. I called maytag and make a complaint and the next time the guy came out he didnt say anything LOL. I hate Maytag and I will never own another one.

but they couldn't find anything wrong with it. This guy found that the guy who replaced the motor before rigged it to the side of the tub. Now the entire innards of the thing are destroyed. :(

It is too bad you cannot invoice Maytag for the extra expense of having to haul your laundry out to the laundermat and do it. If you could, no doubt they would fix it in a hurry.

I am so sorry!
I have been buying Maytags for nearly all my married life, and they have all worked wonderfully well, and for many years too...
My latest pair is only four years old, and they haven't given me any trouble at all......
We generally read Consumer's Report before buying such big ticket items...
And they continue to like them, IIRC......
I wish you had not had any trouble.....that just sucks!

prove otherwise. They are the worst manufactured pieces of machinery on the planet, their customer service is horrendous, and their repair service far worse. One does not expect for $1,000 a plastic tub, and crappy parts that break twice. Good luck with your four year old pair, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Maytag is horrid.

suit against them for all your time and stress. Go for the maximum allowed in your state. It would cost $30 or so to file it, and a half day in court.
It's the principal of the thing.
And you might get a nickel out of it.

The same thing happened to me last year. The washer died. I called the Priority Maytag repair line that we are supposed to be entitled to use. They arranged for a repairman to come. The guy called and said that he couldn't make the appointment because he needed 2 men to do the repair. I pitched a fit of the 'How the heck do you know what's wrong - you haven't even looked at the machine yet?' variety. So he comes and says that it's a simple repair to the control board. He fixes it. $200 please. I put a load of my 2 year old's clothing in the machine the next day and the &*+%^*&^&*# thing up and dies. I bail water and unload half washed clothes and call the repair line again. They send same POS repairman back. He decides he can't fix it. I call repair line again and pitch a fit. They arrange for someone else to come. 2nd repairman is actually competent and has seen the problem before. Unfortunately the part he needs to repair the machine is in such demand that he doesn't have one and will have to order it. I have to pay for it first of course. A week later the part arrives. Competent repairman can't come to install it for 2 weeks. I got way too acquainted with the local laundromats. Aaaargh. Thankfully the thing has worked well since. But I don't think that I'll buy another Maytag product.

My parents bought a new washer about the same time I did. I bought a very basic Whirlpool, and they bought the nuclear-reactor-control-room-esque Whirlpool. They've had ALL sorts of problems, and I've had nary a hint of a problem with mine. My washer doesn't have a bajillion settings, but it gets clothes clean, and IT WORKS!

|
When she was a kid they were mean to her mother. She had bought a washing machine on an installment plan. She missed one payment, say it was due on the third, they came by on the fifth and hauled it off. SHe never bought another Maytag the rest of her life. She just saw how humiliated and sad her mother was. I don't know if I could consciously buy one after that myself. Duckie

47. Oooh! My sister had horrible |
|
problems with her Neptune. Months and months of hassle. The gist is that Maytag told her that her warranty expired but she had one from the appliance place she bought it from, so they drug their feet in fixing it; e.g., cancelling appointments, failing to order the part. I wonder if she ever got it straightened out? I will have to ask her.
