Listen to my song!
Edited on Tue Feb-28-06 11:16 AM by rbnyc
I finally have an MP3 online. It took me long enough. I'll be putting up some more soon. Please check me out:

http://www.myspace.com/renebouhardanddavidromanelli

My friend David and I both play guitar, I sing and write most of our songs.

And check out my husband too:

Thanks!

P.S. Will find out sometime this week about the job. The ED said he had to check my references, meet with the VP and MAKE A DECISION! Ahhhh!

EDIT: 2 songs now!!!!

3. what a beautiful
voice you have! Very nicely done. The vocals were a little low so I had to crank up the sound, but I really enjoyed it!! Thank you for sharing.

I hope the news of your new job comes soon. I'm sure you must be the right candidate!

Thanks so much.

There are 4 songs up now. That's the limit. It was hard to pick. I kind of went with how I'm feeling right now.

I really appreciate your listening.

14. It was meant to be a compliment.
Theres so much music now,it just does'nt seem to have any passion, beauty or soul in it.Just another set of pretty boys singing of love and their only love is celebrity and status,no real heart in it.Have you ever heard of a band(I use this term very loosely)called Westlife. If you havent then you are lucky. In the uk they have had 14 number 1's.Not one of them can play an instrument.not one of them has written a word .Fucking disgrace,I want them shot but no-one will let me.

20. you deserve it, and a five minute commute is something
i recommend highly. it makes life so much less stressful, you have more time, money, energy to put where you need to.
plus, i'm selfish in that i want you to stay nyc. if you moved upstate, you'd have to knock off the "c". it wouldn't be the same.

23. hey rene. i like the ethereal vibe and the sound
but I am going to be critical too.

first the positives

The guitar/bass or guitars are pretty nice, kind of washy, delayed and spacey and they fit the music.
The songs are pleasant to listen to as well.

******Stop here if you dont want to see the bad parts********

the negatives

The vocals are buried under the guitars. There is a lot of reverb and echo which isnt necessarily a problem ie cocteau twins but your pitch is not always so good and the reverb tailing off exacerbates the problem.
The vocals seem to be somewhat better in 'her the less' than in the others. (this is after one listen of the 4 songs so take it all with a grain of salt)
Do you overdub this stuff or record it live?
My advice for best results would be to record the guitars at the same time but on seperate tracks so you can remix them and then do the vocals seperately so you can concentrate on them.
how we do in a big studio is usually record a number of vocal takes and comp the best parts of each into a master track. then (keep this on the DL) we invariably tune the vocal track with Antares Autotune or (new and even simpler to use) Melodyne.

One last thing that might make it a little more finished is some small amount of percussion, a simple loop, or something else creative.

I think it is pretty nice and promising.

Cheers.

24. cool. thanks a lot.
these are all 4-track recordings, actually done at various stages of me being very ill. lol. not to make excuses. but if we were evr to re-record, your observations are spot on. i really appreciate it.

thanks so much for the careful listen.

And actually, nebulous is proabably a pretty good word for my music. I never know how to answer the question, "What kind of music do you do?"
