Weird ringtones, and some I'd like to see.

We just heard from a friend in Spain, who sent us audio of ringtones you can get for your cell phone there. The most bizarre one was the official announcement of Franco's death (by the then prime minister, speaking in slow, sonorous, melancholy tones). Another was the announcement of the end of the Spanish Civil War.

So I was thinking how much I'd like a ringtone of "I am not a crook," or of "George W. Bush has been impeached by the House and convicted by the Senate."

1. The INVADER ZIM theme by Kevin Manthei

You can hardwire the tune in, but I'd love to get the original tune itself.

Either that, or the Doom Song as sung by GIR.

Tina Fey saying "Here are tonight's top stories" from Weekend Update.

Or the repeating melody at the end of Stravinsky's Firebird.

Or the little tune in the middle of the verse of Frank Zappa's "Dyna-Moe Hum."

The technology is rife with possibilities.

But of course I won't implement any of the above, because I'm too much of a luddite to carry a cell phone.
