What European cities have you visited, or would like to visit?
I've spent a grand total of 6.5 weeks in Europe on 2 different trips that were one year apart. I've been to:

London - twice

Dresden/Berlin - twice

Paris

Rome

Amsterdam - some things are better left unsaid

Czech Republic - just barely over the order from Dresden, Germany. My great grandmother spoke only Czech and never learned English so I had to say that I at least stood on the Czech soil once. I am 75% German and 25% Czech. These are my people. ;)

Salzburg, Austria. Absolutely gorgeous. Also Vienna, Oslo, Munich, and numerous others, although some time ago now. Would like to visit Prague and Budapest very much; London, Paris and Rome would certainly be on the list as well, also Barcelona, Florence and, of course, Athens. Too many to list! Got to keep buying lottery tickets, I guess.

2. I spent twenty years in europe
between the military and working there after I retired from the military. Lost count how many cities I have been to, though I do admit I like the eastern european countries better then the western. I still own a house in Germany that is currently being rented out.

6. these
Amsterdam, Paris, Barcelona, Madrid.

I'd like to visit Prague. I knew a native of Alicante (which is south of Barcelona on the Mediteranean) and she said Prague was the most beautiful city she'd ever been in. Seeing as how Barcelona and Alicante are pretty beautiful too, Prague must be otherwordly.

8. I'd like to visit Dublin.
I've never been to Europe, but I have this interest in visiting Ireland.

Anyone been to Dublin? Should I go?

11. Visit Dublin
It's attractive, but it's the people who make it beautiful.

15. Limerick, Cork, Kilkenny, Dublin, Galway, Feakle
That about sums it up, a circle tour of the south half of Ireland. We spend several nights in Dublin.

Loved every minute of it, and hope to do a north-side circuit in the next couple of years.

After a re-visit to Ireland, Spain and Italy would be next. (All that reading of the sidebars in high school spanish class must have whetted my appetite to visit the Iberian peninsula).

Italy: well, I'm from N'wawlins. I love to eat and drink. I think that Italy is about ground zero for folks like that.

10. Most
I was fortunate to visit most major European cities (except Rome and Athens) when I was stationed in Germany. They are all worth visiting, but Paris is the city I love most.

Well, I'm learning German, right now, so a trip to Germany and Austria would be nice. It would be cool to try out mein schlecht Deutsch. (From what I hear, American tourists who make the effort to try to speak in the local's language get better treatment in Europe.)

Berlin
Stuttgart
Dresden
Basel
Munich
Paris
London
Glasgow
Dublin
Cobh
Amsterdam
Frankfurt
Cologne
Naples
Rome
Messina
Palermo
Bastogne
Monte Carlo

14. I haven't been to Europe in several years but I hope to return.
Most of my trips took a week to ten days. I would fly into a city, stay in the historic section, walk or take subways everywhere, then fly home.

I've explored the following cities -London, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon, Rome, Paris, Bruxelles, Vienna, plus a trip to Germany along the Rhine. In other directions, I've been to New Zealand, Hong Kong, Costa Rica, and Jamaica about a dozen times.

Also, now that Bush has made such a big deal about his two-hour trip to Baghdad, I should also mention my trip to Japan, which was actually a stop-over at an airport, where I waited two hours for a connecting flight to Hong Kong.

The cities I haven't seen yet, but would like to see before the dollar collapses, are Prague, Budapest, Istanbol, and Florence.

16. Pretty much all Western Europe
Edited on Thu Dec-04-03 01:35 PM by undisclosedlocation
London, Canterbury, Bath, York, Durham, Edinburgh, Paris, Reims, Lyons, Marseilles, Nice, Madrid, Barcelona, Alicante, Valencia, Lisbon, Florence, Milan, Pisa, Rome, that fucking place in southern Italy with the largish volcano, Innsbruck, Salzburg, Bern, Lausanne, Geneva, Cologne, Hamburg, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Uppsala, Bergen, Oslo, Trondheim, Amsterdam, The Hague, Brussels, Leuven, Liege, Bruges, Ghent, Moscow, Vladimir, Suzdal.

Did a two-month study tour of France when I was 17 (ie, when they were still doing the cave paintings) and a Junior Year Abroad in Canterbury. Went back a few years later when I had the money, but even that was 15 years ago and more.

Of these, my favorites were probably Salzurg and Bern. Really love London and Paris. Would go back to all of the above (except Naples), and only regret missing Prague, Budapest and Krakow.

Edit: Did I forget VENICE? Whoops!

21. Get a rail pass
If you're under 26, travel in Europe is (or was, way back then) much more competitive. Youth rail passes, or reduced fare tickets through Transalpino, and youth hostels take away some of the bite. If you're over 26, um, inherit wisely.

19. Milan and Naples, Italy--cough, cough, hack, hack
I can't breathe! The air in Milan in 1985 looked like Youngstown in 1965 before the pollution laws went into effect.

I've been to London for a brief period. The architecture is stunning. I think they call it "Edwardian". Barcelona, Spain is a beautiful little city. Rome is kind of beat-to-shreds, but I did get to go to the Roman Forum.
