Poll question: I Pay My Monthly Bills.... |
|
And feel free to explain why, because otherwise it's just some cool colored bars and numbers. :)

1. For the most part, right before the due date. |
|
Because I want my funds in my accounts earning every little scrap of interest for me that they may legally and legitimately earn. And I'm protective of my credit rating.
It has happened, however, that I sometimes have to pay within a grace period, or perhaps a tiny bit late.

8. Internet banking has been a godsend. |
|
I hate the whole process of writing checks, buying stamps (I mot even sure how much they cost. 37 cents?), going to the post office, etc...
Now, the bills come in, I make a few clicks, and voila! Less money!

14. Internet banking...is there any other way to go? |
|
Just set the bills up in reoccuring payments and *presto* no more worries. Need to schedule a payment? It's done in a flash. Ah..., I love peace of mind!

9. I love it, hippiechick! I was ROTFLMAO as I read |

your response....I am that way with my electric bill...now my phone bill...NO, I pay that as soon as I can because it is through my phone that I get the INTERNET and nothing will mess with that.
A former co worker told me that she pays her electricity bill four times a year. She considers it a loan from the electricity company. Interesting.

3. On The 15th And The 30th |
|
They come in and get put in a pile until the 15th... or if they arrive after the 15th they get paid on the 30th (or pretty close to it.)

Everything comes out of my checking account automatically. Everything. I don't think about bills at all. I couldn't even tell you when the first was if I didn't have to buy a new Muni pass.

10. Try to pay as soon as it is in my hand |
|
Sometimes I can't, and then they get left in a pile, and then I often miss the due date. That's why I like to do it when I open the bill. :-) Plus, it's out of the way and I can file the bill.
But for most things, it's all automatically taken out of checking account, or I have the bank set up to automatically send checks (like rent and storage that have fixed prices on fixed dates).
There's no benefit to me to wait until the due date, since my checking accuont earns no interest anyway.

so it depends where the bills come in whether it is really early or just on time. Only one problem in the past three years, which the bank quickly tracked down and resolved.

we live paycheck to paycheck and have to weigh which bill gets priority. The others might be late or incompletely paid off. No savings account until recently. I wonder if my life will always be like this? At least someday the student loan payments will go away.
