Jaywalkers should not be ran over...
But if cops would fine these bastards real money, they'd shore up their budget shortfalls pretty quickly.

Or is jaywalking not a real crime anymore?

Maybe. Well...maybe not.

But it would raise the hell out of insurance premiums. Which would create a different budget shortfall.

For everyone except those personal injury lawyers that advertise on tee vee...

Man, they love to hand out jaywalking tickets! (Though I must say that I really hate it when pedestrians cross at the wrong place; I really don't want to hit one!). There is one street in Seattle where pedestrians do have precedence over cars, and that's the brick street in front of the Pike Place Market.
