allow me a moment to rant....about my workplace
about 2 weeks ago we had a rumor going around that the company was changing health plans. it was confirmed by some reliable sources, but no "offical information" came down from headquarters
our old insurance had to be renewed by march 31 or it would be cancelled by today (4/1)
so for two weeks we've been calling headquarters, asking for information packets on new insurance and have been told it's on the way -- meanwhile no specific information on what plan or when the switch was going to take place. in other words we were mushroomed
we were told it would 'save employees money' - lower the premium co-pay
last week we were told a talkinghead was coming to explain the plan during the week - still no confirmation on WHAT PLAN from WHAT COMPANY, just rumors that it was going to be Great West. and the talkinghead meeting was "rescheduled" for this week
This past monday - talkinghead meeting was canceled, and we were told we would have a conference call on Wednesday with talkingheads to explain the plan -- still no confirmation on WHAT PLAN from WHAT COMPANY
Wednesday's conference call was canceled.
so yesterday, at 10:30am they finally had the conference call, and yes it was with Great West. the two options given through Great West are similar to two of the old plans, but we had to sign up IMMEDIATELY, and couldn't rely on their website list for approved participating doctors because they don't freaking update their list -- and the freaking a$$holes had pre-signed us up for the more expensive plan that has the least coverage... and it's going to take 3-4 weeks to sign us up for the the other plan if we want that one
meanwhile...forget about it "saving us money" -- plan employee co-pay costs the same as the old ones, and the co-pay for doctor visits/prescriptions is doubled.
yeah right, and about choice in health care -- this is the take-it or leave-it plan
grrrrrr....unfortunately I can't "leave-it" and can't afford to go it alone

2. i'm a little luckier than others at work |
|
I only have 1 doctor to deal with, and he is on the 'approved" list
but others that I work with have families and/or medical conditions which require multiple doctors -- and the freaking morons give us just a couple of hours notice that the plan is officially changing so hurry up and find a doctor but don't go by our list because it's not updated...
freaking pile of BS
oh yeah - short-disability is being cut to 1/2 of what we would get, ditto for life insurance. but if we want full coverage for these then we can have the difference deducted from pay check
don't know about the rest of my co-workers, but if I have any more deducted out of my paycheck, I won't be getting a paycheck on pay day - I'll be getting a bill

3. That is unfair to the point of being abusive. Seriously. |
|
And I hate that you all have to deal with it.
:grr:
I hope, somehow, things work out for you. Best of luck.
