Basic Instinct 2 and Larry the Cable guy.... FLOP this weekend
Okay they made $3.2 Million each.

I hadn't posted this before but the previews that I had seen of this looked really really really bad. I'm talking in the "Showgirls" and "From Justin to Kelly" range of BAD.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060402/ap_en_mo/box_office

LOS ANGELES - "Ice Age: The Meltdown" heated up the box office with a mammoth $70.5 million weekend, while audiences gave the cold shoulder to Sharon Stone, whose "Basic Instinct 2" debuted with a paltry $3.2 million.

Universal's "Slither," starring Nathan Fillion in a horror comedy about killer slugs from outer space, flopped with $3.7 million, debuting at No. 8.

Sony's MGM release "Basic Instinct 2," the belated sequel to the 1992 sex thriller that made Stone a star, tied for the No. 10 spot with Lionsgate's "Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector," which took in $3.2 million in its second weekend.

Critics savaged "Basic Instinct 2," many finding its tale of erotic intrigue both laughable and dull. Sony held out hopes the movie would find an audience on DVD. <---- all ready?

1. Yes
People can buy/rent the DVD anonymously, and don't have to wear raincoats/trenchcoats, hats, and sunglasses to go see it.

Or they could just buy Cinemax.

4. It was cut to avoid an NC-17

so the unrated DVD'll be sold on the promise of Sharon Stone in a full on orgy.

As I've said on other threads though, with lines like "Don't take it so hard -- even Oedipus didn't see his mother coming." I can't not see this movie!

2. They should have spared the inconvenience and just incorporated the two:
"The Basic Instinct of Larry the Cable Guy."
It probably would've fared about as well, in any event.

5. Too bad Slither flopped
I saw it and quite enjoyed it. With bloated, roadkill eating exploding rednecks, how can you go wrong?

6. We took the boys to see Ice Age 2
It was ok. The kids in the audience seems to really like it, and some of the adults, too. My fav is the squirrel.

13. It's cableguyese for "finish it."
Apparently he says this and rednecks just roll on the floor laughing.

While that's happening, all the non-rednecks are yelling "that shit ain't funny, motherfucker!"
