My cat is stuck up a tree & its not the first time

what a way to start a monday.

i went up on the neighbors roof (it comes down to 3' from the ground) & rigged up a 2x4 from the peak to the branch the cat is on. i levelled it, secured it, its pretty stable, and all the bonehead has to do is walk down it 5' & he's on the roof. but no. he's just sitting there yelling at me. i left & came to work.

i am NOT paying $75 to get him out of a tree. last time he was 40' up a cedar. now he's just being a pussy. cat.

Virtually all the cats I've know who got "stuck" in a tree just had to work of the nerve to go down. A couple of them also had to figure out how to get down, ie, back down so their claws held them. And then there was Leon, who would climb and tree and them come running down, face first. Never hurt himself, but a less graceful cat I've never seen.

you're right, i expect him down when i come home. but if he doesn't get on it, our resident crows will get a gang together & dive bomb him. maybe 50 of them did it last time & it was pretty terrifying.

in one of his hilarious characters he played during the "Weekend Update" segment.

He asked "Why is such a fuss made about cats that climb trees? Cats are natural born climbers. Have you ever seen a cat skeleton in a tree?"

2. The piece of wood needs to have a rough surface so he has some traction.

I would put some carpeting over it, or something that he can grip on. He won't come down until he feels secure in doing it.

5. I once constructed a 12-foot tunnel out of three long, skinny boxes, so

that a tiny kitten could get down from a tree on his own terms. I lined the inside with corrougated paper so he could have something to grip on as he came down. When he finally got tot he bottom of it he fell into my arms and was purring so loudly his whole body was vibrating. Ever since then he has adopted me as his owner, even though he's my neighbor's cat.

14. Wouldn't worry about the kitty, they can handle themselves better

than you think.

They may not come down the tree too gracefully, but they eventually come down; and even if they slip, they can right themselves up pretty well.

15. I feel sorry for you...

Two cats that we take care of (and let sleep inside on cold and rainy nights) sat in the rain and wind and meowed at us last night. We opened the door and rain and wind swept in soaking me and the floor - the cats? They sat in the rain and meowed. I finally had to brace the door open and pick them up to bring them in - grrrrrrrrrrrr.

16. One of mine likes to hang out on my roof top. He is able to

climb my big tree and hop over to the roof. He does this quite often, possibly every day ...he is quite capable of descending the tree on his own.....however....if I happen to appear while he is ON the roof, he turns into Mr.Helpless Kitty and mews at me like he is starving, and going to die SOON.

Fat chance of that, this cat also kills squirrels, who interestingly enough don't like the roof as much as they once did.

Your cat will get himself down when he damn well feels like it. Be sure and get some pictures of him in the tree, acting pitiful. ..

22. red oak, although it does not get very red unless we have a

real fast temperature drop in early October.

Today it is covered with feathery little baby leaves and oak tree waste products. LOL Oak trees are messy.
