Recommend a movie to me (I'm temporarily almost single the next week)
My wife is out of the country on business, so I'm a single dad. I might bring my 3 year old to see the new Ice Age movie next week, but she still might be too young for a movie. Maybe the Shaggy Dog?

However, I may have some time in the afternoons for a matinee for myself when my daughter is in day care/preschool.

I saw "V for Vendetta" the day it came out. I'm tempted to go again to the IMAX version.

Anything else good out there? I'm not really tempted to see Basic Instinct 2.
Slither?
Inside Man?
She's the Man?

stay at home & watch Chronicles of Narnia?

Nothing is jumping out at me.

1. Inside Man is worth checking out...

And Slither, surprisingly enough, is getting good reviews as well.

4. Thanks
Slither seems to be getting pretty good critical reviews, too. I like satire most of the time, too.

6. It's weird, I was expecting Slither to be awful, based on previews.
Haven't seen it yet, but I kinda want to now.

I saw inside man about a week and a half ago. Seriously impressed by it.

13. it looked like a bad B movie
or even a bad C movie... but, it is a send-up of those movies, it seems.

2. If you are taking your daughter
She will like Shaggy Dog.

We saw Ice Age 2 also, but I think my 4 year old liked Shaggy Dog better. Ice Age has some kind of slow moving parts of the plot, but the squirrel and acorn scenes saves it for the shorter attention spans.

7. Aniston doesn't do much for me
But, I'll look up the movie.

If I stay at home, I'd likely either rent or buy Chronicles of Narnia.

Such a strong performance. I had a vague hope that he'd get nominated for some of the biggies, but nothing.

22. they prob thought the topic was "too constroversial."
And if they thought Brokeback Mountain was "too graphic" they'd have a shit-fit over this one.

19. Just watched Narnia
Amazingly beautiful. Good for everybody. Just be sure your little one isn't scared of lions. Learned that the hard way...

Good Night and Good Luck is fantastic. You'll love it. Capote is excellent, if a little dry. If you enjoy caper films, I rented Layer Cake just the other day. Really engrossing.

23. I'm single on Friday night. I'm catching "Slither".
...since I doubt I could talk Sarah into that one. It's supposed to be a very "fun" monster movie (sort of like "Tremors". Dump the kid with the babysitter and we'll meet at the theater!

The actors are engaging, the scenery is gorgeous, the tone is polite agit-prop, most moving film I've seen in ages.

29. Shaggy Dog was fun
and would likely be even funnier for a 3 year old. I can't recall anything jumping out at me as being too terrifying or scary--hell, if they watch regular TV, they've seen plenty worse. And while there is an undertone exploring animals in lab tests, it would go over a 3 year old's head completely.

Narnia is always a good choice, though there are deaths and a war explored in it. But I can't honestly say it bothered me except that it lasted a little too long (the battle scenes, I mean). Being a long time fan of the Chronicles made the film special to me, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Unfortunately, my dear friend, the fundie, tried to push the Xtianity crap with me, and I told her to lay off. I told her I read the books when I was a young teenager and a little older on some of them, and I never paid attention to that supposed allegorical business. (I'm a firm agnostic/atheist/humanist now)

How adult do you want your movies? A History of Violence is supposed to be excellent, as is Crash, Good Night and Good Luck.

If you want fun, Goblet of Fire is out on DVD, and you might try March of the Penguins.

It's always hard to recommend a film to someone when their tastes are not known, but these are all highly rated films and they're all current.
