Folks, when they tell you to get to a basement or low-lying area....
...during a Tornado - take it from someone who lives in "tornado alley" - please do so. This is what we've been battling in Middle Tennessee all day. It's still storming outside. This particular storm went right over our house, but didn't touch down until it hit a satellite community to the east of us. 1. I always thought that when they told us those things . . .
. . . they were just trying to scare us into keep watching or listening to their TV or radio broadcasts.

4. Thanks. Yes, 10 people have died so far today. They said the count...
...will probably go up. 27 people died just the other day in West Tennessee from the tornadoes that hit there. In fact, our govenor had just got back from a visit to those sites, when these hit. I'm lucky, I have an older house with a basement in the ground. A lot of the newly constructed homes, are just sitting on a foundation on top of the ground. Those people have no where to hide.

6. I would not live in a house without a basement
at least not in an area where tornadoes are likely. We get them here. :scared:

7. I know. The house directly next to ours got leveled to splinters when....
...tornadoes went right through downtown Nashville in '98. Our neighbor is alive, because she had a basement. Our house, which is only about 15 feet from hers, was untouched.

8. Unbelievable. 8 minutes of incomprehensible video.
I have to think a lot of people were killed or injured.

11. I have a crawl space with 10 inch hairy spiders and camelback crickets
If you think I am going to willingly crawl in there, you are CRAZY!

Oh, and I forgot the 2 inch American cockroaches.

A twister could be bearing down on my neighborhood, and I would still refuse to get in with those damned critters.

I think I would have more of a chance of dying from a heart attack in my crawl space than an impending twister.
Gawd I hate crawly thingies.

13. You want have to worry. If you saw that video, a crawl space wouldn't...
...do you any good anyways. Those homes that took a direct hit, were leveled to the ground.
