So, my boss shows up unexpectedly at work today....
Well no, not THE boss. But my District Superintendent showed up at church this morning. Surprise!

This is the time of year when pastors get nervous, because the Bishop and the cabinet (of superintendents) begin projecting moves for next year. Thankfully, nothing like that came up. But even so... :scared:

1. I'm sure the DS just stopped by because
s/he needed some spiritual inspiration and knew where they could get a good dose.

"Isn't He a week early?" but then you said it wasn't THE Boss. Should we start a "don't you dare make Rev move" petition for ya? ;)

15. Nope - that will get me moved for sure!
All I'm gonna do is lay low and pray. And maybe I should tell them "if you have to move me, could you move me as far away from Dad as possible?" That's one way to be assured that I'll be near him. :eyes:

Seriously... when I moved here 3 years ago, I begged them to put me closer to my parents. But nooooooo. (Thankfully, THAT bishop is now retired.)

10. You deserve the courtesy of his notifying your beforehand
In a hotel, the general manager cannot go into the kitchen without the permission of the chef. A church is a lot more than a hotel! You have a significant responsibility for your church and its congregation. The District Superintendent exhibits poor manners and puts you in a bit of an embarrassing position in front of your congregation.

16. Actually, that would have freaked me out more.
I'd be a nervous wreck, wondering why he was coming, what I did wrong, or who was complaining about me. This was just a courtesy call - the first time in 10 years that a DS actually came just to visit.
