They are just Mp3 files. they can be played on amy player. I use itunes to subscribe to a lot of them. I use Doppler for others. Just drop the link into Doppler nad it will automatically download it.

2. Yes, but the way it is delivered is what makes it a podcast, really.

You can subscribe to have it automatically downloaded to your hard drive via an RSS feed.
