Can you name -- fictional characters born in US states?
For example -- Irene Adler (one of the few people to outsmart Sherlock Holmes) was supposedly born in New Jersey.

3. I believe Missouri.
That's where the book takes place, anyway. And I doubt Huck was out of MO before then.

42. at one point huck says he was born in Missouri, but ...
he was spinning a yarn at the time trying to get out of some kind of trouble, so it's hard to know if he was telling the truth. It was probably Missouri, but it could have been Illinois, too, since that's where Pap took him when he kidnapped him at teh beginning :)

How ya been, WIMR? :hi:

26. and thanks for your tip as well!
One reason I wanted to do this collection was to see the range of different characters from literary and popular culture which people came up with ... and we're sure getting them! I suppose many of the characters from Lehane's "Mystic River" would also be in the MA category ...

30. Kansas -- Dorothy Gale (possibly)
She identifies herself as being from the state, but she might not have been born there. (It's interesting how many characters do not have specific birthplaces ... even before the late 20th century, when people supposedly became more mobile.)
