Can Life Get Any Fucking Worse?
We had an open house today since we have to sell our home.

Then tonight, my wife calls me to come over to the house right away, and when I do I find 2" of Shit Water backed up in the basement from the sewer. So after 90 minutes of wet-vac it is finally gone, and the plumber is coming in the morning to rod out the pipes.

Yay, for fucking Life.

Just when you think it can't get any shitier, it does. Literally.

And life can always get worse. Life is just one shitstorm after another, or I guess in your case shit flood.
Good luck with the plumbing and selling your house.

20. "To the pain!"
Once I spent a year in a trailer in Wisconsin with no running water, no central heat, no electricity, and no car. I swore that I was never gonna complain again if I was warm and dry. I have no really kept that promise because I enjoy complaining - Marvin style. "Life, don't talk to me about life."

I had one casual friend who challenged me to a contest - to name the worst day of my life and see if his was worse. He said nobody had beaten him until I told him my story - having left the trailer because my body was covered with running sores from poison ivy. I went to town to see a doctor and stay in a hotel. Tried some over the counter stuff first. Then I walked 3 miles without being able to find a hotel room, walked three miles back before I got busted by the cops for sleeping in my car (I could not drive to the hotel or the trailer because my car did not have working headlights) (but the story ends okay because the cop just took me to a hotel on the other side of town, and the cheap hotel soap quickly dried up the poison ivy, and, as a bonus - while I was at the hotel the WKRP "turkey episode" came on.)

I did not really beat him though, because I am sure the worst day of his life was when he was about 12 and was told that his brother had died. My day was not even close to that bad.

For me, that's typical house-selling stuff. I've had the a/c go out the day before closing on one and the sewer line to the street back up 3 days before closing on another. The a/c fix was easier - the sewer line required a backhoe. But with everything else you're dealing with, it tips the scale.

Plumber is on the way, basement is a bit stinky, gotta call a carpet service too to clean.

But yeah, no one died, no one got hurt, I have all my fingers and toes, my kids are fine. SO it could be worse. Just gets a bit overwhelming...

39. Oh DO I feel your pain.
We not only had the Sewage Swimming Pool in the basement, but it cost us $10,000.00 plus to get a new sewage line in as the old one had collapsed. We sold that house in November of last year (taking a $60,000 loss on the beast) and are STILL paying on the credit we took out to pay for that sewage line.

GAWD do you have my sympathies. If it makes you feel any better, the $36,000 we liquidated from the wife's IRA (taking penalties) to complete the house in Canada that the Ex and her bullshit lawyer prevented us from immigrating to (we couldn't take my daughter, which made it out of the question) has caused an increase in Fed income taxes of $3500.00 that we can't pay.

BOY do I feel your pain.

Misery DOES NOT love company:

Misery just wants Misery to GO THE FUCK AWAY.

I TRULY hope your sewage issue is solved by the Roto Rooter man, and does not require the efforts of a backhoe and crew. I will keep my fingers crossed.

The backhoe and crew messed up my lawn 4 years ago when the 8" water main in the yard burst and I had old faithful blasting up. Now that was fun! Luckily it only cost me a ruined lawn.

The carpet cleaner guy just got here. Another check to write...

48. There are some good things there, buddy.
1. They could deal with the problem right away.
2. You could write a check and pay for it.
3. The carpet cleaners could come today and get rid of the smell.
4. You have enough $ to pay for that, too.

Inconvenient? Yes. Pain in the ass? Yes.
But not something you can't deal with.

Don't let the emotions of selling the house interfere with the maintenance of the house. AND, you already have a new home, which you are making YOUR OWN.

From what I can see, you're still ahead of the game.

42. Yes, but then it gets better, then worse, then better again.
Life's like that. The problem is that when you're already blue, something like this will just set you off. If you had been living your previous happy existence, the sewer problem would have only been a minor upset.

But, yeah, that's pretty bad.

On the upside, you'll get the house fixed, sold, and then it'll never happen to you again.

However, what do I know about misery? Why not ask these guys:

Some things in life are bad,
They can really make you mad.
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle,
Don't grumble, give a whistle!
And this'll help things turn out for the best...
And...
the music fades into the song

...always look on the bright side of life!
whistle

Always look on the bright side of life...
If life seems jolly rotten,
There's something you've forgotten!
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing,

When you're feeling in the dumps,
Don't be silly chumps,
Just purse your lips and whistle -- that's the thing!
And... always look on the bright side of life...

whistle
Come on!

other start to join in
Always look on the bright side of life...
whistle

For life is quite absurd,
And death's the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow!
Forget about your sin -- give the audience a grin,
Enjoy it -- it's the last chance anyhow!

So always look on the bright side of death!
Just before you draw your terminal breath.
Life's a piece of shit,
When you look at it.

Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true,
You'll see it's all a show,
Keep 'em laughing as you go.
Just remember that the last laugh is on you!

And always look on the bright side of life...
whistle
Always look on the bright side of life
whistle

But that I had a house to worry about a broken sewer line to it.

Right before my wife and I split, we had done $30k worth of sewer pipe work on our house. Had to dig up the line to the street as it had collapsed. The work happened in January, when the ground was nice and frozen.

You're definitely on the downward slope here. Just hang in there.
