I heard a good Friend of mine died today.
He was Jimmy Adair; the only son of Paul N. "Red" Adair, the oil well firefighter. Jimmy worked most of his life in his famous Father's company, and only survived him a short time. Jimmy was a hell of a nice guy and generous to a fault. He didn't care if you were one of the corporation CEOs he did business with or a laborer; he had a good word for everyone. Here's to Jimmy! :toast:

4. Thank you, Ma'am. He walked in his Dad's shadow for years...
but it never seemed to slow him down a bit.

6. Thanks, Pard. I'll post more particulars when I hear them...
I'm sure there will be an elaborate service and wake here locally. Jimmy had a special chair in one of our local bars and a brass name plate holding his place there. :toast:

7. Didn't Jim Hutton play the character based on your friend
in the movie "Hellfighters" (1968)?

8. It's been years since I saw the movie. Looking at it...
IMDb says Jim Hutton plays someone called Greg Parke, while John Wayne's character is called Chance Buckman. I think Hutton may have represented a protoge, rather than his son.

Red had several top employees through the years, including two known as Boots and Coots who went into business for themselves. I'm not sure if Jimmy held any titled positions in the company, but he sometimes was sent here and there around the world to do a job. He also helped his Dad with various of his boat and car racing projects.

13. Hellfighters
John Wayne's character, Clarence, had a daughter whose boyfriend/fiance/husband was Hutton's character. Greg worked on Clarence's oil well firefighting team planting the explosives that snuffed out the oxygen feeding the well fires.

15. Yeah, he was one of the proteges, now that I think of it.
John Wayne's character (CLEARLY supposed to be Red) has a daughter in the movie, but I can't remember if a son character plays into it. It's been about a year since I've seen it. My favorite thing about the movie is the young Katherine Ross, who plays the daughter. The dialogue is pretty stilted and the conflicts forced, but it's fun to watch.

16. There is a Daughter in R/L, too. I don't think she looks like K.R.
