A man, a buffer and a car . . . a pictorial of the results of 5 hours of
labor on a sunny weekend :).

Having nothing better to do this weekend, I decided to wash, polish and wax the vehicle . . . wow this thing is shiny :)

2. Complete job was about 5 hours. That included washing, drying
buffing/polishing (to get rid of small scratches) and waxing (to make it SHINE) :).

That also included frequent breaks to BS with my buddy.

4. I guess that means you won't be driving it onto the beach
And then hosing out the interior, as the manufacturer intended.

6. Contrary to popular belief, the interior was NEVER designed to be hosed
out. There's insufficient drainage and lots of electrical type stuff under that floor.

BUT, it can be mopped out with a very wet mop with no problems at all :).

8. Well with all of the ads and magazine articles saying it could be,
Somebody must have tried it and gotten a nasty surprise.

10. I never saw an ad saying that, only articles by ill-informed magazines
A few people did get nasty surprises. :).

7. You can do my orange E next!!
I keep looking for someplace around this tiny town that will give it a good buff. I have some faint little scratches in my driver's side door.

I also discovered yesterday that someone busted out one of my rear tail lights. cry:

Bastards. Wonder how much *that* will cost to replace.

Anyway - I'm jealous of your shiny car. :)

9. I just noticed 5 minutes ago that after all that work, somebody dinged
my rear drivers side door.

GRRRRRRRR

Fortunately, it didn't scratch the paint at all, which means paintless dent repair type folks can remove it easily.

I wanted an orange E, but nobody had one when I was buying :(.

You can order the tail light and do the works yourself (quick and easy job) from http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/jsp/mws/prddisplay.jsp?inputstate=5&catcgry1=Element&catcgry2=2005&catcgry3=5DR+EX+4WD+SIDE+SRS&catcgry4=KA4AT&catcgry5=TAILLIGHT-LICENSE+LIGHT

Cost is about $120 for the tail light.

13. Thanks!
I was gonna scour the web for a good price - thanks for the site. $120 seems like soooo much for a piece of plastic. Jesus. Ah well - it has to be done - but it's going to have to wait a few weeks.

Sorry about your dent! I was griping yesterday about how all the old beater cars I've had over the years and nothing like this ever happening - but then I get a new car and Murphy's Law takes effect.

14. That ALMOST gets me aroused. I had a shiny black car that I LOVINGLY waxed
and polished routinely to get that kinda shine.

It made me giddy.

Mine was a lovely little miata. I miss her very much.
