"The Rocky Horror Picture Show" - How many times for you?
Edited on Mon Apr-10-06 11:53 AM by DaveTheWave
I saw an interesting documentary on "Midnight Movies" this weekend and "Rocky Horror" seems to be the most dominant one.

Just guessing I'd say I went about 8 - 10 times.

Edit - What was I thinking? Must have a pic

10. They (the writers and cast) said....
...that watching it at home on DVD isn't the same. I honestly can't tell you one word the guy they yelled "Asshole" at even said.

5. Twice
Once at a midnight showing...it was fun.

And once on video...and I realized that it really isn't a good movie.

11. Even the broadway show flopped...
...this was definitely a movie that the fans took over and made their own. If I ever do buy the DVD it would strictly be for "historic?" reasons.

12. Twice for me, too.
It's an awful movie, but the whole "go at midnight and goof off" is fun just for the atmosphere.

6. Three? Dunno. Not many.
My SO was Brad in the Madison production for awhile (although not since I've known him, as that would probably up my total considerably).

14. I was with the "Pink Floyd's The Wall" clique
Edited on Mon Apr-10-06 02:06 PM by LynneSin

I've probably seen that in the movies about 2-3 dozen times. One time though they tried to take me to go see Rocky Horror; hell I had even bought the ticket. But at the last minute we decided to sneak in to see "The Wall"

It was our bag baby! The best thing is after seeing it a few times you'd go to the movies and sing during the entire thing like everyone else would.

Oddly enough I had only ever seen "The SOng Remains the Same" once in the movie theater. Even more suprising is that I've seen Pink Floyd's "Live at Pompeii" more times than TSRTS. But at the time when I was doing midnight movies, the Wall had recently been released so the only 2 options were The Wall and Rocky Horror.

15. Never the whole thing
I've had the VHS tape of it for, I would say at least 10 years and I haven't put it on. It just doesn't seem like something I would like.

18. once was enough for me
the cult following to this film is impressive and the audience antics are really fun, but I just don't care for the music at all.

19. Half dozen or so.
There used to be a showing at the local community college at midnight every Halloween. People would come dressed as their favorite characters, people would jump up on stage and act out the scenes with the movie showing in the background, hundreds of people in the theatre would jump up and start doing the timewarp together, and every single person there knew every single word to the movie, backwards and forewards. It was an absolutely unbelievable blast.

I quit going when my first kid was born, and they apparently ended the showings a few years later. As I understand it, attendance started dropping and people were getting wilder and more destructive.

26. Probably about 100
I was in a Rocky Horror cast in high school. It played at one of those old theaters converted to a movie theater, and has a nice stage in front of the screen. I played The Lips, and then Janet in the Floor Show (costume change is too quick for same Janet throughout) and in between I'd be a Transyvlanian. We had a Colombia that looked just like Little Nell! And our Eddie really rode his motorcycle through the theater aisles. I still can't quite figure out how I made to all the shows, seeing as I had a midnight curfew and wasn't allowed to go. The theater owner used to take all the booze he confiscated from the audience and let us have after the show and then we'd party in the theater till dawn! Yes, I had a corrupted youth. :evilgrin" But I turned out OK. (No comment, LynneSin!!)
