No point in having a thread about cliches without using one, if I may be so bold, at the end of the day.

8. 'and he tore his shirt! how cliche!' |
|
a couple:
"on the same page" - usually someone who wants to be 'on the same page' is not only not reading the same book, but is not even in the same library ;-)
"too much on my plate" - ha! i guess "your eyes were bigger than your stomach!!
however, my dearest ZombyWoof, at the end of the day, not only is "at the end of the day" not a cliche i can do without, it is one i actually use ... but only when i really mean it ;-)

Edited on Wed Apr-12-06 03:51 PM by CBHagman
I have a supervisor at work who will respond to the mere mention of an Irish person (Gerry Adams, Bertie Ahern, et al) with that asinine Lucky Charms leprechaun cereal routine. I've been listening to this crap for 11 years.
Something like that might be funny a single time when the jokester is in the third grade. When it comes from a middle-aged person in management in a small business, it's grotesque.

31. It is unless GWB uses it. |
|
Then its just a bunch of mangled words that don't make sense.
I find most cliches annoying. Especially when its a trendy one, such as from a commercial, and everyone starts using it. Example--"Can you hear me now?" I have wanted to slap several people who used it. My opinion of people who use cliches constantly is they don't have much imagination or originality.
