Hey, SHINE! Still with us?
Just heard on the news there's an evacuation advisory in Shine's town. The river's rising.

Dog DAMMIT, I'm sick of this fucking rain! :grr:

4. There's no relief anywhere.
It's been nonstop up here today. We've had so much rain since March 1st that I've worn holes in 2 umbrellas. :)

Hope we all find a little relief soon!

11. I'm very happy that the sun is shining.

We have a ride planned for tomorrow if it isn't too windy. Cherie's V-Rod needs to go in for its 1,000 maintenance work. We'll probably drop it off and come back home to make soap.

I've gotten my laundry and the truck cleaned after getting home Sunday. :) Frodo insisted in taking a shower with me today. It's been a little hard to keep her from joining me in bed since I've been back.

How is the weather in your hometown this week? :loveya:

12. We have beautiful weather
and we have been in a drought x(

Because it is so dry, the debris burning and other small fires here have caused all sorts of brush and woods fires.

All that rain Shine and her neighbors have been getting needs to be spread around. We can use some here.

I hope you get to go on your trike ride tomorrow. It sounds like good fun.

And I can only imagine how happy Frodo is to have home again.

I now have all 3 of my babies with me in the femansion. We are adjusting to this new living arrangement and thanks to intheflow and usetobesick, I have a pin outside to let them play in so that they don't go crazy in the trailer.

:loveya:

15. I am allowed to use it for 18 months
I am on month 8 now.

My insurance company has told me they won't pay a cent. I have to sue them and that will take time and energy and money.

FEMA monies wouldn't rebuild my garage, so I am trying to get other grant monies or a SBA loan.

If I do get some funding, the labor to rebuild is hard to come by (as are the supplies) and very costly.

I have no idea how long I will be living this way.

I'm just trying to make the best of what I have, it is better than a tent. :)

18. To an extent, that is what some of the volunteer groups are doing.
The need is so great and most folks just don't know where to turn.

And of course there is the red tape involved in rebuilding, getting the necessary permits requires that you have plans that pass the codes and the codes are being revised all the time.

It truly is a red tape nightmare down here.

14. How many years will it take to rebuild your community, merh?

Do you still have a local shortage for your shopping needs?

I'm happy to hear that some of the DUers like intheflow and usetobesick are still able to lend a helping hand.

When I was talking with JJ this past weekend I heard that volunteer will be doing rebuilding projects this summer.

16. It will take years to rebuild.
Many of the volunteer groups anticipate being here for 5 years if not more.

And of course, hurrican season begins in less than 2 months.

Lord knows what that will be like.

If it weren't for volunteers like intheflow and usedtobesick, I don't know what we would do.
I know that their help this evening helped me out tremendously. I just have trouble cleaning the debris in my yard, it is full of pieces of my lost life and I get caught up in the emotions.

Thank God that intheflow and usedtobesick came to help me, my pups will be safer and happier and living conditions won't be so cramped.

21. The femansion won't hold if a tropical storm hits.
Heck we have had gusty winds with some thunderstorms that rock this baby like you wouldn't believe.

We have been advised that there are mandatory evacuations for everyone in femansions if a Category 1 storm heads this way.

I'll be a gyspy this year, living out of my car with my dogs and finding a place to evacuate to.

Life is nevah dull! :)

23. I just read the bad news about the 2006 hurricane season.

I've got high ground and plenty of shade if you need a place to pitch a tent for a few weeks.

8. It's time to build the ark
The gates are WIDE OPEN at Shasta, but there's still about 20 feet of reservoir left to fill before things get scary... I dunno how many inches of rain in the basin that relates to.

But yeah, I had to go pull some plants today and put them back in pots. They looked like they were drowning. :(
