5. Wow, really? Actually, I can believe it. Some people just touch |
|
us in that way.
Thanks again for posting this. I just sent it off to my daughter, who writes some pretty great poetry in her own right.

6. He made me want to be a writer when I was 16 |
|
My first book was a shameless rip-off of Bukowski's poetry, though I found my own way after that.
I know he's a love him or hate him kind of writer, but Obviously, I fall into the former camp:)

7. He can be kind of a downer, I know |
|
But sometimes, life is kind of a downer.
You know, I read somewhere a bit ago that people who go through periods of depression, whether clinical or episode-specific, tend to see the world in a more realistic way than people who are consumate optimists. The writer's point was that the optimists, while not BAD by any means, sometimes have a hard time dealing with difficult or negative situations, more so than people who have been depressed at some time in their lives. Interesting.

Life is a series of mountains everybody has to climb up and down from; some think that if they stay on the peak they'll be safe, but you have to come down sometime, whether you want to or not.
I've known (and been in relationships) with people like that, and it's never pretty when the inevitable valleys happen, because they can't (or won't) deal w/ the emotions surrounding it; you can try to help, but in the end, they have to find their own way..

12. You are absolutely right. |
|
In the end, people have to find their own way. It's frustrating for those of us who love the people who get lost somewhere along the way, but on the flip side, it's a joy when they DO find their way!

4. It's a very good documentary |
|
Although Barbet Schroeder's documentary made in the early 80's is far better IMO...
