What a freakin' morning!!!!

So, this morning started out pretty shitty. Doggie drama in the Shell Beau household!! So, the dog next door is in heat and my two male dogs have been trying this week to get over the fence. Well, this morning my biggest, and I thought sweetest dog, pounces on my other male. They proceed to fight majorly for about 5 minutes. My little 15 lb. dog was trying to get in the fight the whole time. After lots of screaming and begging them to stop, they finally do. But it didn't last long. A few minutes later, they go at it again. And once again, it is major dog fight. I throw my little dog in the bedroom and shut the door. She was just asking to get hurt. So, I decide that Hanky-poo (as I call him) has to be boarded for the day so that I don't come home to a bunch of dead dogs. I am trying to load him up in the car and my little La-La (as I call her, Lolly is her name) escapes. She jumps in the car thinking she is going somewhere. Ok, out of ALL freakin' mornings for a random dog to show up in my driveway, this beautiful chocolate lab picks today. Hank sniffs him, decides he doesn't like him, proceeds to get in yet ANOTHER fight. The lab runs off, and I think it's a good thing I have HAnk on a leash. Well, he slips out of his collar and takes off after the lab. My little Lolly jumps out of the car and follows. So, here I am running down my street chasing 2 dogs. At this point, I am BEYOND pissed. Lolly almost gets run over. I grab her, throw her in the back yard, and thankfully Hank comes running back. And off to the vet we went. I was an hour late for work. FUN FUN FUN morning! So, how was your morning?

That was so amazingly awful....all the boy dogs got terribly aggressive.

5. One is! The other one isn't YET, but come next week, he's

going to be. I asked the vet if they could do it today, but they said they didn't have any openings until next week. How awful for someone to bring a dog in heat to the park! Some people are just IDIOTS!!!

14. I had a dog fight happen two night ago on my bed!

Buddy and Larry had a territorial dispute over who gets to sleep closest to me. (it was raining, otherwise they would have been outside.)
I usually let the dogs go at it until one submits. It usually sounds worse than it is. My feeling is that if you break it up they don't have an opportunity to work out where they are in the pack structure.
I do break it up when Moe jumps on his mother. She is the alpha females pup and the lowest in the pack. Moe is the one that is just above her so he thinks he needs to show her he is superior. She is such a sweet dog I just grab Moes back legs and pull him away.
I think your doggie life will be better once you get them all neutered. Is the dog next door for breeding or is the owner just stupid?

15. My guess is that the owner is stupid!

I made the mistake of getting between them fighting before. Not good! I got bit on the leg. It was my fault for getting in the middle. But one of the dogs is 100 lbs. and the other is 60 lbs. So, I let them fight it out b/c I really have no other choice. Now, if my little 15 lb. dog (who thinks she is their size) gets involved, then I have no choice but to interfere b/c they could kill her. She gets in the middle and like me, they bite her unintentionally!

16. Do you have other adults in the house?

They say the best way is to grab the dogs hind legs and pull them apart. It probably wouldn't work with only one person though. I have my enforcer "Buddy" who is the pups daddy- he steps into their fights pretty quick and breaks them up.
I hear you about stupid dog owners. The vet told me that the risk of breast cancer is reduced the sooner you have them spayed. My girl Angel had 5 litters before I took her in (including the one she showed up with). You could tell she was getting tired of the whole doggie motherhood thing- she only nursed for 4 weeks. I guess it isn't too comfortable with all the puppy teeth gnawing on her.

17. My husband is usually there, but the times of the fights, he

wasn't there. Go figure, huh? I think it is best to spay a dog if it won't be breeding! This dog clearly isn't breeding (at least not now, who knows what will happen if my dogs get over the fence). YEah, I can imagine nursing all those pups gets a bit aggravating!

My guys can be nice and quiet all day and then I get a phone call- time for some barking and howling. They must be waiting for the hubby to leave to start their fun.
On your small dog- I have witnessed many a large dog being intimidated by little ones. (its probably best not to test the theory though).

She's my little bratty baby! I love her to death! She is my child, but she is the biggest spoiled brat I have ever ever seen!! She's one of those that only a mama could love!! :)

24. This is my youngest-smallest girl.

She is Angels pup from a previous litter. She was also preggo when she showed up but only one survived (Moe). She had Moe a week after Angel had her two. When Angel stopped feeding her pups PeeDee let her new brothers nurse from her. She is a real sweetheart.

31. Evil dog looks like he could be a handful!

You look at how cute they are and then wonder how they could be so bad sometimes. It has to be the girl in Heat next-door. A male dog will go nuts over a female in heat. I was told I couldn't/shouldn't have Angel spayed until she had weened her pups. It was a week after she weened them when she went into heat again. I know I should have gotten Buddy fixed before this but the cash flow was such that I was going to do the girls, then have the boys done. Anyways this fat little dog climbed two three foot rings of fencing I placed around Angel just to get to her. It was sad because he was crying trying to get to her.

Hank is still a puppy. He just turned 1, so he is still testing his limits! I can't stay mad at him long b/c he is too sweet. At least to humans anyway!

22. after a gig last night, my dog, Chai, and I slept in until 10:00

Then I took him out front for a good brushing (it's Husky molting season and I get a grocery bag full of hair a day lately).

Then we went on a long walk through the park and around the lake. He met a cute Golden Retriever, but they didn't get to play.

Plus it hurt my feelings when Hutch looked at me like "what did I do to deserve that"!! Hank is usually the sweetest dog in the world, but today, he was EVIL!

when a nearby dog is in heat, male dogs are basically three year olds in puberty. Poor guy was temporarily insane.

33. Awww! My evil dog of the day (though he is really a sweetie)

is golden retriever/australian shepherd! He is way bigger than we anticipated. 100 lbs. and just turned 1, so he isn't through growing!!

They are named Gordie and Bonnie and they are both rescued (he's from Wyoming, she is from the UP of Michigan). He's a cowboy and she's a Yooper! They love each other and are inseparable.

Which dogs are at risk for developing mammary tumors?
