What region does the name "Llahsmin" (first name) come from?
Anyone know?

My understanding is that it is a feminine name. But I have no idea where it's from.

2. I doubt it.
I know a girl with that name, and I'm curious where it's from.

She doesn't look Tibetian.

8. Double-L in Spanish is sort of a 'Y' sound
It could be pronounced 'Yasmin", which would make it the Persian form of Jasmine.

9. So, would that make the name a derivitive of the name...
Jasmine?

10. That would be my guess.
Although I did plug it into a name database and while it did not contain that name, it did suggest Laxman, which it said was Indian (India, not Native Amer).

11. From the land of make-believe?
It could be a made-up name (it is 'nimshall' spelled backwards, after all).

12. I looks a bit like "Yasmin"
Edited on Thu Apr-13-06 11:45 AM by Momgonepostal
Possibly one of those "Kre8tyv" spellings?

On edit: I just did a google search of that name and EVERY single hit was about the girl in FL who got tased (?) by police. If the name were an ethnic variation of Yasmin or even an actual existing name, I would think it would appear SOMEWHERE else on the internet. I think the parents made it up.

17. I am researching that story.
That is why I ask.

I have a theory about the use of Tasers on kids. Here's the problem: You can't exactly call schools and ask them: "Hey, remember that kid who the cops zapped last year? Was he black?"

So I'm trying to find witnesses I can call. So far the research is slow, but it's solid. I'm stuck on this girls and a few others. (I have a picture of her, but she could be Arab or Hispanic. No way to know.)

18. I figured that might be it
I googled the first name and every single hit was about that story.

I suspect the name is something the parents came up with on their own.

13. I think it's made up - I checked a bunch of name sites,
and none of them have the name.

The closest is an Indian male name, Laxman or Lakshman, "having lucky marks" in Sanskrit. In the Hindu epic the 'Ramayana' he is the trusted companion of the hero Rama.
