1. the ball IS juiced, but by my recollection it's been juiced since at least the early 90s, so that isn't as much a factor anymore.
2. Crap Triple A-level diluted pitching
3. Pitcher's mound lowered and was never raised back up
4. Minature strike zones (even smaller ones for the star hitters)
5. Laughably small hitters' ballparks
6. and of course, semi-legal "performance enhancing supplements"

yes, in this era of musclemen, instant offense and church-league-softball-game scores, sometimes my favorite sport can be hard to watch
