6. It's an advantage to employers
The more dependant and employee is, typically the married ones with kids are easier to manipulate, treat like shit and make work harder as it's difficult for a family person to walk out of a bad job with so many more obligations than a single, independent person. That's what I've heard over the years.

Like maybe her boss was putting the moves on her and that was her least confrontational defense. :shrug: This reminds me of the old TV show, "Occasional Wife".
