Flea had surgery yesterday...she's doing fine. >>>pics
Edited on Fri Apr-14-06 11:03 AM by fleabert
Poor thing cracked/sheared a tooth sometime in the last month. Little trooper showed no signs she was in pain, even though the nerve was totally exposed and there was still pulp left in the root; she's a good pack animal! She's recovering nicely today- she was loopy on her pain meds yesterday, and transitioned to baby aspirin today. I only found the injury because I looked in her mouth when she yawned and it seemed to look oddly smaller than it's twin on the other side.

the damn tooth is one of her back ones, it had three roots and had to be broken up before getting pulled out in three parts. poor baby! she moans occasionally, it breaks my heart!

she also got her teeth cleaned (no need to put her under again!) and the vet said her teeth looked like they belonged to a much younger dog, yea! She won't let me brush them, but I scrape them with my fingernail about once a month. her heart murmur has progressed a bit, as we expected, in the last three years, but still doesn't need to be on meds for it.

All in all, I am happy she made it thru, and that she won't be in pain anymore soon. :-)

she looks so pitiful, couldn't close her mouth until about 12 hrs after surgery was over. :-(

2. :-)
I know! it's hard to see our little defenseless ones in pain... the mouth thing tore my heart out and made me laugh at the same time. She's usually so...dignified and prissy!

pitiful little thing, I think she's enjoying her new menu though, boiled chicken and rice! She loves it!

11. awwwww....
what a precious angel! I'm so sorry about flea's tooth, but am so glad she came through the surgery fine. Will she stay on the chicken and rice diet, once her little mouth has healed?

13. nah, it's a special treat, only for when she's not feeling well.
she'll change back to her low protein, very healthy doggie food soon, plus her occasional helpings of people food. (her faves are carrots and lettuce)

I hope she is workin' it for all its worth! Spoil her good, they are so precious-- I did the same thing for my sweet Emma, who recently passed away from kidney failure. I hope flea gets to feeling better soon!

17. awww. I am so sorry for your loss. :-(
She is my child really, I have had her since she was six weeks old, she's nine now. I would be broken without her. She is having a blast with the pity right now, as she should be.
