So, we've been in the new apartment for 24 hours, and the birds and cat
are utterly unimpressed by one another.

(The birds are mine; the cat's my SO's; we're all shacking up now.)

Is this the honeymoon phase, or is this a good sign for the long term?

1. Put them in the freezer together.
They'll huddle together for warmth, and if they survive, they'll be the best of friends from then on.

2. It's generally a good sign.
I'm going on eight years with no problems.

Happy new home. :hi:

3. I had a cat and bird when I was a kid
it took awhile for the cat to figure out what the bird was. Once she did, she was VERY interested in it-- but only for a month or so.

Pretty soon, she started ignoring it. Even when the bird was out of its cage, the cat couldn't be bothered to pay attention to it.

5. So far, the cat has been much more interested in the blinds than the birds
She's spent most of today hanging out in windows.

8. Yeah, blinds are much more fun
I get woken up at dawn by the cat-punching-the-blinds sound every morning. I wonder if they make sleeping masks for cats?

7. Yes, they are, but explaining that would have required a complete
re-write of that sentence...after all, YOU'RE not shacking up with the lot of us.

10. That would be TOO wierd
Glad everyone is getting along.

How's the unpacking going? Obviously, you're connected.

11. It's going well, actually...
Kiddo's room, the living room and dining room are in pretty good order...the office/bird room is trashed, and the bedroom is so-so.

I'll be happy when we're settled, though.
