I'm off to go smoke a couple last cigarettes in a bar. |
|
I'm sad. Stupid smoking ban. The really ridiculous part is it's going to be illegal to smoke within 25 feet of a building in NJ. Okay, let me go stand out in traffic to smoke and kill myself faster.

1. Make sure to throw the butts on the floor and sidewalk. |
|
Isn't it hard in some places to be 25' from a building?

We all ignored that part of the law. It was pretty crazy there. I think the full moon is still in effect or something. I took home the last ashtray I used and my friend recorded it all on video.
Twenty minutes, after the ban went into effect, another friend of mine wandered in with a lit ciggarette. He claimed he was "Grandfathered" since it was lit before he entered the bar. They let him slide with it, but we're all friends with the employees there.

3. That's one thing about it that pisses me off |

I don't mind smoking outside or even 25 feet from an entrance. But if they're gonna chase us out, couldn't they at least put an ash tray somewhere so the butts don't wind up in the gutter or something?
I guess they want us to swallow them. :eyes:

7. The bar did put an outside ashtray out front & back. |
|
It's still in violation of the law because it's within 25' of the entrance in both cases. They plan on keeping it there until they get caught though.

6. I plan on quitting or at least cutting back a lot. |

I'm pretty much a social smoker. I'll chainsmoke at bars, but I generally only smoke when I'm out. Before tonight, I hadn't smoked since Monday since that's the last time I was at a bar. I smoke when I'm out or occasionally in the car. So, I routinely go for a few days without smoking or any real cravings. I mostly just crave them when I'm drinking. I can't smoke in my house and I feel like an ass standing alone in my driveway, so I only smoke when I'm out.

8. How am I going to be 25 feet away from a building if I'm in town? |
|
Smoking is banned in New York but they didn't restrict your outside smoking, yet.

9. Exactly, I hang out in a centralized town. |
|
It's easy at the bars in the town I actually live in, but I don't like them and I don't have friends here. So I hang out where I used to live. Unless I'm standing on the median, I'm going to be within 25' of a building.
