He thinks it's hilarious, if a bit embarrassing. In case no one knows, this isn't really Pakistani culture, it's just a silly clip from a movie. Sensitivity to other cultures is essential, but women flopping on a bed isn't really a Pakistani cultural thing. Since we live around and interact with and befriend Pakistanis, we just thought it was funny and never thought anyone would think it was mocking Pakistani culture. JC is my husband, by the way.

my husband and I forget that even though we are of course still Americans, our context has changed, since we are expats, and unless we tell back story there is no reason why anyone else should know that.

and am familiar enough with Hindi films to see similarities. I'm sure it doesn't represent Pakistani culture in the broad sense, and have no idea how common this stuff is in Pakistan, but I find it different but not "funny" per se. I'm not sure what reaction a Pakistani would have to a softcore U.S. film clip.

Another thought: you and your husband are obviously quite familiar with Pakistani culture, so you have a different context to put this clip in. Most of the rest of us don't have that context, so it can appear "strange" or "exotic" to us.
