11. I'd have to agree.
Nothing else like it. Amazing!

I do love the view of San Francisco and the Bay from the Berkeley Hills, as well, but, for pure "Spectacular!" you can't beat that Grand Canyon.

14. Yeah, you don't often
have the chance to look back in time.

Another cityscape is the New York skyline. There's the opening credits of the film My Favorite Year. It starts with just an outline of the Brooklyn Bridge, then pans to the skyline and fills in the details. Nat King Cole sings Stardust throughout. Beautiful, simply beautiful.

9. my own backyard is a meadow leading down to a creek, tall pine
trees surround me on three sides on the fourth is the side of a mountain. Deer bed dwon for the evening. Wildturkeys see fit to gather for a few days. Feral cats make my front deck their home fora time. Hawks fly in the lazy circle, riding out thermals. Squirrels play in the trees and rabbits play in the yard. The bluebirds and cardinals make nests. That first bright green of spring is bursting and the hills are alive with thr bright glow of a neon spring. Azaleas and jonquils are blooming. Purple thrift flowers a small bank alongside my drive.

and we had the most amazingly perfect weather.

I want to live there; but I don't imagine it's easy for a violinist to make a living in the area...

35. The cherry trees blooming in Seattle
The spring of 1995, when I was pregnant, I walked every day under the cherry trees in bloom, and realized I would never see cherry blossoms the same way again. From that year on, the blooming of the cherry trees has been very special to me. :loveya:

42. The "Welcome to North Carolina" sign....
.... especially if I've been on a long trip. There's nothing quite like home, even though this isn't my original home. Mind you, I could see it any day of the week, I can drive into and out of PTI Airport any time I like and see that sign each time. But it has meaning every time I travel home.

Mark.

The other Spanish missions are much more interesting and are run by the National Park Service, so they aren't commercialized.
