Give Me a Hug; Some People Are STUPID!!! |
|
Just got into a GD discussion about a CONFESSED AND CONVICTED Felony Child Molester of our acquaintance who REPEATEDLY MOLESTED HIS THIRTEEN YEAR OLD STEP-DAUGHTER because he was in an unhappy marriage of THREE YEARS, so when he got "depressed" about this, he MOLESTED HIS THIRTEEN YEAR OLD STEP-DAUGHTER.
He served TEN DAYS IN JAIL because the mother of his victim (now ex-wife only because the courts wouldn't let him live with her) stood up in court as a CHARACTER WITNESS for him because she wanted him to keep working as opposed to going to jail so she could get money from him.
He confessed in Court -- we read the transcripts. He confessed to his brother and his brother's wife, both in private, and in front of a therapist. What more does this guy have to do before SOME PEOPLE realize he REALLY IS A USELESS WASTE OF SKIN???
We choose not to associate with this person. We would NEVER trust him around our children EVER AGAIN, and we don't want to be friends with someone we don't feel safe about -- who knows when this narcissistic asshole will get "depressed" again? And the "forgiveness" folks who want to give EVERYONE the benefit of the doubt just can't understand this.
Says one idiot, "It sounds like he was a swell guy and you brought back a demon that he was trying to leave behind."
Gee, its been so long -- JULY OF LAST YEAR was when he was FORMALLY SENTENCED, and he's still on probation -- let me go kill the fatted calf to celebrate his "rehabilitation" -- and let's leave him unsupervised with a few twelve to fourteen year old girls while we're at it!!!
What the hell is wrong with these people???? ARGH!!! I swear to God there are some people who think being LIBERAL means being STUPID about CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR!!! What part of CONFESSED AND CONVICTED FELONY CHILD MOLESTATION do these MORANS NOT GET?
Hug me, please.

Big hugs Ida  I'm with ya on the 'forgiveness' crowd. I'm still expected to do the christian thing and forgive my 250lb BIL for striking my daughter and threatening to "snap her neck', so that all the extended family get-togethers will be just like they used to be, all warm and fuzzy.
Fuck that.
on edit: wtf is up with a mother that would do that to her own daughter?

2. OMG! What a SNAKE! How old was your daughter? |
|
And what did you do?
And, as for the mother, in my opinion she is -- what is the word? oh, yes! -- TRASH. She has four children by three different men (two are twins), and this was her second marriage. She knew the guy (who prior to this incident seemed to be decent) for about seven months before she married him, promptly quit her job to be a "stay at home mom" the week after the wedding, and then used up a fifty thousand dollar inheritance from his mother to pay an attorney to fight a custody battle over her youngest -- that daddy wasn't a total dummy, and he was able to keep his child away from this STUPID WOMAN.
My cynical prophetic nature had kicked in about the time of the wedding: "Nothing personal," I told my husband, "but this is awfully fast -- she has no way of knowing whether Dave is a child molester or anything...."
Who would have thought I was being a prophet? :banghead:

I didn't turn him in to the police because my BIL the sociopathi cop wouldn't have done a thing, or worse, but that's a whole 'nother story. Thought briefly about trying to find his therapist, but decided that could put us in danger, depending on how the therapist handled the matter. Mostly I've dug my heels in and refused to be at any family function that he will be at. His parents, my daughter's grandparents, don't believe the incident happened, even though my grown son heard and saw the whole thing. :eyes:
The woman in your OP sounds needy, desperate, delusional. I wonder how long it will be until she starts blaming her daughter for tempting her man. :sarcasm:

26. Denial isn't just a river; sometimes its a way of life! |
|
Here's a sad question: even if they believed the incident, what would they do about it? Answer: Probably nothing. They probably "just want everyone to get along", right? :eyes:
Sounds like you are doing the right thing, even if it isn't easy. People that toxic -- both the original perpetrator, who probably denies everything, AND the Enabling Parents -- aren't good to have around. Doing the right thing isn't always easy, but the safety of your family should ALWAYS come first! Good for you for remembering that!
And, as for the woman in my original post, I'm sure it won't be long; she was definitely not the brightest bulb in the box, if you know what I mean. :eyes: I feel sorry for the girl on so many levels.... You know her life is just going to get worse....

3. It is so hard to understand at times |
|
And it is so easy to get on a High White Horse and preach forgiveness. I do not believe I could forgive someone who molested my child or harmed a family member. It is easy to say, so hard to put into practice.

the perpetrator of this crime -- that is up to his victim, and I can only hope she comes to peace with it someday. In the meantime, however, I believe I would be remiss in the commonsense department if I pretended I have no knowledge of this man's crimes, and brought him around my family.
I can and have said it before: it is too bad his depression didn't cause him to kill himself before he laid one hand on his thirteen year old step-daughter. And, if wishes were horses, I wish he would have sought out treatment before things got even THAT bad!
There is no excuse in the world for what he did that I would *ever* find acceptable. Not now. Not Ever!

and Death (or at least really long incarceration) to Child Molesters, period.
As long as being liberal is associated with letting scumbags run free, we'll never win.

I'm a "Law & Order" liberal -- that doesn't mean I think every defendant is automatically guilty, but it also doesn't mean that I think every police officer is a crook, either.
Here's a shocker -- did you know that a lot of criminals LIE??? Even to the POLICE??? (swoon!)

9. of course, there's a huge difference between the two |
|
Many progressives are absolutists on the death penalty, opposed to it in every circumstance.
However, if a person is a danger to society, imprisonment extending up to a life term is appropriate. Society is protected from a criminal who's serving a life sentence, that criminal is (secondarily) protected from society, and the sentence can be altered if new facts ever come to light.
This third alternative, releasing a person from prison but subjecting them to the most draconian scarlet-letter treatments imaginable, is a slippery slope in the way society deals with crime.
If a sex offender is really a danger to society, why not keep him or her in prison?

It is imperfectly imposed and it is final. Life sentences in solitary confinement without parole are acceptable to me.
I also believe that vengeance is a legitimate goal for society punishing criminals, particularly those criminals such as the Enron Gang and the Abramoff Gang that have betrayed the cushy circumstances into which they were born and raised.

18. One Answer: $$$$$$$$$ |
|
Prisons cost money, and when budgets are overstretched, people who shouldn't be released get released, and people who should go, don't.
I'm not an absolutist on the Death Penalty: I'm in the "Pro-Choice" camp. If the family wants the perpetrator dead, then kill the perpetrator. If the family wants life in prison, go with that.
But I totally understand the mentality behind the "Lost" cop who found out the name of the guy who shot her (and killed her unborn baby), who "pretended" not to recognize him during a line-up, and then hunted him down for her own brand of Justice. It didn't bring back what she had lost, but it did save her the energy of having to live through a trial, and then maybe witness the betrayal of him going free.
I only had to deal with that situation once, myself. One of my sisters was dating a crack-head, who threatened to kill my parents. I threatened him right back; told him that if ANYTHING ever happened to my parents that didn't look like natural causes, they weren't going to be able to find his body. When I said it, I meant it. It was a pretty scary time; I learned things about myself I never wanted to know. (shudder)
Fortunately (?), he is currently in jail for molesting his girlfriend's children, plus a few other things. Hopefully he will die in prison; my sister moved on to other losers!

I would feel exactly the same way you do, Ida (nice to see you, BTW). Pedophiles do not have a track record of being "rehabilitated", and even if they did, I still wouldn't want one of them anywhere near my daughter! And if that makes me "unforgiving" in some people's eyes, too bad. I'm not going to pick forgiveness over the safety and well-being of my daughter, or any other child. People can condemn that attitude all they want; I don't care.
You're anger and frustration are perfectly understandable! I just don't GET some people! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Hi Ida and Seattle Girl
I would never forgive them. I don't care for their tears and how they are so damn depressed because their dopey marriage isn't working. You know, people get totally upset because some little dog got thrown out of a car by an angry driver but along comes a prevert and we "must forgive him", because he'll be "cured". No way is there a cure unless you make that cut. Why waste time in the courts on that trash, I like the old west days of getting rid of riff raff.

is probably not a parent.
I would never leave my child with a convicted child molester. And if the person was arrested but not convicted, I'd still want to know a lot about that person before I trusted them with my kid. The instinct to protect our children has to take top priority.
