My non-political rant about the one who died today...
When I lived in North-eastern Ohio back in the 1970's, the "city" I lived in was famous for Bob Hope getting his start in show biz.
After they had celebrated their centennial in 1975 and just prior to the nation's bicentennial, the local pastor of a fundie church began an extensive letter writing campaign to Bob.
Constantly reminding Bob of his "roots" and "his big break", the pastor finally achieved success some 9 months after he started harping Bob for the money...
Almost immediately, the "bells" went in and they rang loud.
My family's house was on the same block that the church was on and just four doors down mind you.
Did I say they were loud. Why, you could hear them well on the other side of the railroad tracks.
Now, for the obnoxiously "beauty" part:
They were programmed to ring every three hours and with one successive ring for each time they went off.
For example: once at midnight, thrice at 3AM, six times at 6AM, etc FOR THE WHOLE F---ING DAY!!! 365 days a year!!!
I could not sleep in and much of my time and hearing was severely disrupted while I lived there.
Other than a few bad jokes about Democrats and without mercy attacking Jimmy Carter's humility, I could care less about the guy.

1. As I already have posted in another thread:
He made the one of the IMHO coolest T-Shirts even more obsolete:

next to an American Flag: "You have Bill Clinton, Stevie Wonder, Bob Hope and Johnny Cash."
next to a German flag: "We have Helmut Kohl. No Wonder. No Hope. No Cash."

4. Did he really die today?
Or did his corpse just finally stop moving?

Best laugh of the day for me. Thanks, Blue Jay, and welcome to DU.

6. Yeah
I lost the Strom Thurmond Dead-Pool too. I'm feeling pretty good about Reagan pants-crapping bet though. It's what they call a "sucker bet"
