I got gas JUST IN TIME yesterday!
They literally raised the price another 15 cents while I was pumping it! 5 minutes later and it would have been a higher price!

1. I never really understood that. They're still pumping gas that was
purchased at the old price, where do they get off raising it?

2. I'll tell you where they get off:
they raised it at 4:00-right before the businesses let out and college offices closed town...just in time for the evening commute. Convenient, huh?

Report the bastids!!

http://gaswatch.energy.gov/

The Department of Energy is very concerned about the impact of gasoline prices
on American families. While we are working to address longer term supply issues,
we're also working to make sure American families are being treated fairly.
If you believe there may be price-gouging, or price-fixing,
please contact your local authorities and fill out the form below.

I know what you're going to say about the above...maybe! :sarcasm:
but they actually prosecuted quite a few in MA. for price gouging last summer.
One station near me was (Exxon) closed down!

11. It's not what you think ...

Not trying to be a smart-ass, but most of the time when this comes up it's just good old fashion bitching about the price of gas, something I do my share of as well. I have no intent to diffuse that because it damn well needs bitched about.

However, generally the gas stations aren't the ones soaking you. They also reduce prices while there is still gasoline in the ground delivered before the wholesale price went down.

17. Actually, I'm not bitching. I use a 50cc scooter for transportation. My
point is that the gas is paid for, and they should charge according to that. Now, if they don't pay until after the fuel is sold, and corporate is going to charge them at the current rate, even if it was actually sold when it was cheaper per bbl, then I can understand.

No big deal to me though... If I spend $5.00/mo on gas, I'm splurging.

So when Arco hits $3.00, then we're fucked!

Good timing!

10. I admit I am lucky
I drive a company car to work and back, and for business of course. They pay for the gas by reimbursement. Whew.

12. You are lucky.
my hubby has to commute over Hwy 17 to Sunnyvale everyday. He drives about 80-100 miles A DAY...and sadly, he ain't got no company car. :eyes:

I'll admit, he's got a pretty sweet ride, though. It's a BMW convertible, so it makes the commute a bit more bearable. :D

We're actually pretty lucky, too, all things considered. I give thanks, everyday, Zomby!

:hi:

7. That happened to us today, too...
As my husband was pumping the gas, the station owner was asking the guy delivering the gas in the fuel truck how much he was supposed to charge now. We paid $2.66 and got the hell out of there.

15. We always run about $.20 below the national average...
...although not as cheap as some places. I'm not sure why - fewer taxes maybe?

13. a 15cent jump is pretty outrageous.
I had something similar happen to me around the holidays when I was shopping at Costco. I'd gotten gas ahead of time at the Costco gas station, then I went inside to do some shopping. When I came out, one half hour later, the gas price had gone up 2 cents, just in that little bit of time. I think I saved a whole $1.50 getting it earlier, rather than later.

:eyes: Not as dramatic as 15 cents, but still....
