Weekend plans? (Plus: How did mine get so busy?)
Edited on Fri Apr-21-06 12:00 PM by eyesroll
My plans:

Tonight -- Return to old apartment to clean up and remove yet more stuff. (We're down to maybe one or two boxes, plus the grill and ironing board.)
Tomorrow morning: Participate in park clean-up; receive zoo coupons and lunch for our effort
Tomorrow afternoon: Checking out our garden plot
Sunday morning: Cooking experiment -- German apple pancake
Sunday afternoon: Baseball game, which will probably primarily consist of running girls back and forth from restroom (hint to the men in my party: there is a "family" restroom available)
Sunday evening: Return to old apartment for more clean-up

And I still need to do some more unpacking/furniture arranging/picture hanging.

You?

6. Oh, there will be laundry, too, but that's easy now.
(and will be done at least partially by J)

I'm still in that "we have our own washer! In a clean basement! And we're not competing with college boys who do lots of tiny loads, thus hogging the machine 23/6, lest they combine a load of underwear and turn gay as a result! let's do lots of laundry!" happy phase.

5. As it is with any of my plans, these are subject to change:
Edited on Fri Apr-21-06 12:09 PM by dolo amber
Tonight: Eat yummy Indian food as prepared by roommate. :9
Tomorrow morning: Going to register kids for Work-Based School's summer work program.
Tomorrow afternoon: Gardening.
Sunday morning: Moaning about sore muscles from gardening. Advil. General house de-funking, laundry, hanging clothes on clothesline. :D
Sunday afternoon: Baseball. Drinkin' beer, feeling bad for eyesroll having to run girls to and from bathroom.
Sunday evening: Getting kid ready to return to school after spring break. This will no doubt involve an hour+ conversation explaining why going to bed at 8 vs. 9 is essential for future academic success.

11. My ultra super exciting weekend:
Tonight: Run errands-- Target (household stuff, OTC drugs and new shirt to replace the one I inkstained today), music store (need a new stand for PA system). Also look for unmentionable items for upcoming visit to girlfriend (haven't seen each other since January). Call GF when I get home. Maybe do some laundry.

Saturday morning/afternoon: go for long walk if rain clears up (looks like it will), clean apartment, rearrange furniture to make room for digital recording set-up. Call GF.

Saturday evening: band practice! w00t! Always an adventure and a good time, too.

Sunday: Vegitate. Finish laundry. Finally learn how to use new digital camera. Call GF and make googleyeyes at her over the phone. :D

13. Your weekend plans make me feel tired!
I plan on being as lazy as possible this weekend, posting a bunch of nonsense on DU, resting up from yesterday's knee surgery, eating lots of Vicodin (whether I need it or not  ) and being waited on hand and foot.

And on Monday, I go back to work.

15. Houston's International Festival begins tomorrow.....
Two weekends of music, food, shopping & people watching downtown. Entertainment always features local & regional bands & a good selection of international music--with emphasis on each year's selected country.

This year, it's Jamaica!

Here's an article from the Chronicle. www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ent/3804459.html

(The festival has a site, but it's not responding.)

Strudel, covered or the simple "slices on yeast dough" type?

17. Probably some bastardization that isn't actually German...
Basically a quick bread (sweet-ish batter), baked in the oven, until it puffs up, and is topped with apple slices.

23. tonight - Thai food!
Return DVDs to Blockbuster. Tell kid no, you can't rent an M game, plus you just got a bunch of games for your birthday

Tomorrow -Tai Chi and Mah-Johng. Then big family dinner for all the April birthdays at a cool Italian restaurant.
While I am gone, males appear to surgically attach themselves to the computer and seem to have stayed there all the time that I was out.

Sunday. Work, then book club - I just joined. We read The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down. Fascinating anthro/medical/cultural analysis of a Hmong child with a severe seizure disorder. It was fascinating and sad.

Cool about your new place, Eyesroll. And if it makes you feel any better, I spent most of the time taking the boys to the bathroom, and the snack bar, and the bathroom and the ice cream stand, at the ballgame, too. :D
