I didn't know they still made/sold "Pabst Blue Ribbon" beer
Seriously. An old American classic in my opinion. I don't drink beer very often, say once or twice every one or two years so I usually don't notice these things. My wife drinks a little and I bought her a six-pack on my way home. I saw the "Pabst" next to it and couldn't help myself. I used to drink it over twenty years ago and my father drank it for years before that. Just pulled one out of the freezer after ten minutes and....not bad at all. Glad to see they're still around and making a good product versus making stupid, five million dollar, Superbowl commercials

 :toast:

1. You can not go into any establishment here in Milwaukee...
I'm talking from your shithole neighborhood dive bars to chichi trendy restaurants, and not find PRR. In a can. :D

10. I was *just* telling someone that!

A friend of mine just moved to NY and was talking about how expensive drinks are. So I says to her, I says:

"Move back here--you can go to a fancy pants bar and still get a pabst for like a dollar. It practically comes out of our bubblers, fer christ's sake."

11. What's amazing is that in some other places Pabst is retro-trendy and has
a huge markup.

(A google search reveals PBR for $3.50 at Helix Lounge in DC.)

14. That's because
hipsters are suckers.

:hide:

Honestly, why anybody would pay $3.50 for a can of Pabst is beyond me. It's highway robbery.

2. Oh, yeah, I sell Pabst at my store
Do a pretty brisk business in it, too, which initially surprised me. I live and work in a wealthy area and while I also sell a lot of micro-brews, the old classics do well, too.

7. I looked at the other prices and it was about the same as the rest
The last time (over 20 years) I had some was on tap, $0.50 for a good sized frosted mug.

dangling from pocket crowd.. all this according to my local bar owner. He also said the craze has slacked off. He sees a big return to vodka consumption, some flavored. Exotic tequilas have been popular too.

6. Hipsters drink it
You know, guys who wear trucker hats, Penguin shirts, and ugly brown pants and hang out listening to alt country. Not that there's anything wrong with that!

16. I have no idea why one would listen to alt country when there are
fifty years of authentic country nuggets to devour.

24. PBR >>>>>> Miller, Coors, and Budweiser combined
Sure, it's an acquired taste, but I firmly stand by that statement.

Oh and another reason PBR >>>>> Miller, Coors and Bud is that you can get a 30 pack of PBR cans for less than HALF (repeat: HALF!!!) of what you pay for those other shitty beers.
