I'm about ready to mark down a crowbar, put it in a shotgun envelope, address it to the Atlanta Store Support Center, and write "use this to pull your head out of your ass."

Personnel says we can't hire any new people this year unless we have sales to support them BEFORE we hire them.

The reason we're not getting the sales we need to justify the new people is that we don't have enough associates on the floor to help customers.

One of the managers, who THOUGHT we were under the old staffing edict (hire enough people to make plan), told me he thought the reason we weren't getting new hires is that everyone was failing the drug test. I told him that I really didn't care if the guy robs gas stations on his days off and smokes weed on the clock, all I needed was someone to spot me during lift truck operations. He said he'd look into it.
