Good Monday Morning, Crew!

:donut::hi:
And welcome to the Monday edition of the Early Morning Crew thread! :bounce: I hope you had nice, relaxing weekend! I worked on Saturday, but had a good day off on Sunday! :woohoo: And now, we begin another work week. The weekends just go by too damned fast, don't they?

I have finally made up my mind to purchase an iPod. So, I went into CompUSA yesterday afternoon about 35 minutes before they closed to get one, and not one single person came over and greeted me or asked me if I needed help with anything. x( I waited right there by the iPod display for 30 minutes and watched as two associates in the next aisle wrestled with each other and had a fun old time! At 5:55, I left, very disappointed. :grr: Consequently, CircuitCity is going to get my $300. Not CompUSA. Don't you just hate when that happens?

So are you ready to start this new work week? Me too! Let's get it on! :bounce:

160. It commemorates WWI and the Anzacs - which comes from
'Australia and New Zealand Army Corps'

Basically, take Normandy beach and then quintuple the danger and damage and let it go for years, and you have Gallipoli. (Place where they fought)

Ridiculous casualties. Anyway, it isn't a day of heroics and stuff, it is quiet rememberance - which I really, really prefer to all that high-and-mighty twaddle about heroic bravery adventure.

It's war. It sucks. But people gave their lives for it - in this case for almost no reason, but they still did. The motto of the day is 'Lest we forget', and there are beautiful poems read.

I cannot remember the entire main poem of the top of my head, though it is short and sweet. I do remember "Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. With the going down of the sun and in the morning we shall remember them. Lest we forget".

Whatcha think?

staff to be really nice and helpful. I hope they are Blue and I didn't just start a flamewar. I know our Costco had an Ipod Nano last time I was there. We bought our daughter the IRiver for Christmas and it is a really nice MP3 player. I hate being ignored at a store. If they had had them just there on a peg or something, I could have picked one up and gone to the register and not needed help. But, they are too small and too expensive to lose to theft, so they keep them locked away.

45. That happens quite a bit here at Meijier (a combo grocery/dept store)
They will have movies and vid games locked up and you can never find somebody to unlock the case, and then when you ask someone for help...you get the old, "This is not my department" treatment, not "Hang on, I'll see if I can find someone to help you..." :(

Just coming round here - one (v.v.v.v.v.v. strong) coffee, and one green tea down.

Sorry to hear that you had trouble - it seems like anytime I walk into a computer shop a couple of people come and offer me assistance (maybe I just look like I need help  ).

We're on Messiah by Handel - without doubt one of the master works of the Baroque era.

I have had very good luck at CompUSA in the past. I don't know why everyone was so offish this time. Maybe it was because it was so close to closing.

Hey, I'VE even heard of "Messiah"! I'm glad your'e' enjoying your day so far!

42. They're just going to have to miss out on your business then
Even if it was just because of closing time, they should still have been ready to help. Nothing one can do I suppose.

I couldn't be gumpy today as it's St. George's Day. I've got me a large red rose on my lapel (if a thing's worth doing, it's worth over-doing say I).

I'm glad I've managed to play something you've heard of - I fear I can't reciprocate though.

22. Morning, Clint.
I, too, hate bad customer service. When I hear about store sales being down, I think of all the times I've tried to buy something and can't get the attention of someone or the product is out of stock.

The big mall across the street and the entire shopping center where my store is went out as well. That means it had to be the entire grid went out. Even the stop lights were out and I was just waiting for an accident to happen at the entrance to the mall. People were being stupid at that intersection the whole time it was out.

didn't do much but wasn't lazy either. Went to the movies with my friend Saturday evening after getting my apt in order during the day. And yesterday I went to the gym for a couple of hours.

76. Good Morning Clintmax!
I used to "over" listen to that song! lol

They made up their minds
And they started packing
They left before the sun came up that day
An exit to eternal summer slacking
But where were they going
Without ever knowing the way?
They drank up the wine
And they got to talking
They now had more important things to say
And when the car broke down
They started walking
Where were they going without ever knowing the way?

Anyone could see
The road that they walk on is paved in gold
And it's always summer, they'll never get cold
They'll never get hungry
They'll never get old and gray
You can see their shadows
Wandering off somewhere
They won't make it home
But they really don't care
They wanted the highway
They're happy there today , today

The children woke up
And they couldn't find 'em
They Left before the sun came up that day
They just drove off
And left it all behind 'em
But where were they going without ever knowing the way

Sorry about the iPod but like you said Circut City can have your business. Have a great day. :) :bounce: :hi:  :loveya:

I saved a pile of money getting the "toys" on eBay. And they're all new. There's a great place to get a case to put it all in, if I can remember where that is. Let me see ... oh yeah. It's www.sfbags.com. I got the speaker case so I could put my inMotion in it. It's very nice. You will have fun accessorizing your iPod! I think the one you're getting came out just after I got mine ... but I still like my plain-ol' white one. I have a Wild Sides iSkin on it -- it glows in the dark. :bounce:

Yep, we're still proceeding. The inspector found some minor things wrong with the house and they're all fixed except for one. Total cost so far: about $25.

136. You got that right!
Here are the estimates to hire someone for the stuff that's already been done.

1) $100.00 to fix defective GFCI Control (the guys who installed the water softener didn't hook up the wiring correctly).
2) $50.00 to put a cover on an open junction box (that was harleydad's fault).
3) $75.00 to put new closers on two screen doors (they cost $8 each at Lowe's).
4) $90.00 to move the motion sensors on the garage door (builder mounted them too high).
5) $45.00 to connect the ground wire on the pool motor.

The estimate for the rotten facia is $350.00, if someone does it for us. We're going to have to buy an 8' piece of lumber to do it, and then only use about 6 inches of it. But it'll still be less than $20.00. We already have the paint.

I think harleydad could make a living being a Mr. Fixit guy if all else fails. Except for number 2, they didn't find any problems with any of the work he had done on the house -- and he installed electrical outlets all over the place, even outside.

Done with my smoothie. :( It was really good. Might have to make another one later. :D

:hi: Yes, thanks. I was SO relieved when he rolled in Saturday morning. I hate it when he travels. He did not want to be here, though .... never wants to be here at all anymore. He only wants to be in TN. He even brought some flowers (sort of wilted by the time they got home), a stick, and a rock from our property up there. He's a bit of a goofball sometimes. :loveya:

Did you have a good weekend?

My weekend was quiet but not boring. Bought me a new paid of sandalettes, went to the movies and the gym and got my apt in order (more or less).

I am in a good mood today, guess the weather plays a big part in that.

Now, I know everyone was just dying to know the answer to whether cats snore. Sabrina just started to snore, just a little quiet one. She's sleeping beside me on the sofa. But she disturbed herself with the sound and had to reposition herself.

Well, my favorite kid ages are 3 and 4. But he's been in daycare all his life, so perhaps it won't be such a big shock.

Yesterday he called and the first words out of his mouth were, "Grandma, why don't you ever visit my new house?" They moved last January and one or the other of them has been away, and now we're moving. They came here last June and we're all going to CA this June. We'd like to see him more often! But it was still pretty funny that he said it.

"my boy" was 6, turning 7 while I was there. I liked that age. He could understand a lot already and was fun to be around. He is turning 19 this December. That is how old I was when I was with them. I am OLD :scared:

I talked German to him all the time and he answered in English. He always answered correctly to what I said. I guess it must have looked funny to other people.

89. Morning Clintmax - We need a sales people school because............
.....most sales people don't seem to get it.:spank: The mistake most sales people make is not helping at all - your experience - or going to the other extreme and acting like a second skin by hovering over a person.:banghead:

Well, my weekend was spent a little closer to home with puter issues. In allowing O8)my computer guru son:hug: to diagnose everything I became very proficient at taking "screen shots" and sending them as attachments. I hate getting or sending attachments but in this case it was definitely a necessity. Anyway, the final diagnosis is my son will be getting me another computer in a month or so that O8)HE GOES THROUGH AND SETS UP FOR ME.O8)

I can't wait. :banghead: I positively loathe these off the shelf jobs!!!:banghead:

So, in a word my weekend was FRUSTRATING:spank: and I'm glad it's over but I accomplished what I needed to get done.:bounce:

Yes, I hate having computer problems too! I can sometimes figure out what the problem is myself as I'm pretty good with them. Sometimes I can't and have to take it somewhere. I've always just purchased off the shelf. I'm good with computers, but I don't think I could ever build one myself.

....above you though, he can tear a computer apart and fix it. He knows the parts, hardware issues, software issues, everything. Guess what?? He loves computers but:rofl: absolutely hates us users. He's so good with people but privately he calls computer users less than flattering names. I get such a kick out of him but at least he keeps me and many others working and surfing the webO8) In fact he has his own business where he builds computers, repairs computers, and sets up networking for other companies.

Anyway, it's a new week so hopefully things will improve from here.:bounce:

Sorry to hear about your poor sales experience. Frankly, I would searched for someone, and if that didn't work, I would have found the manager. I just don't have time to stand around waiting for someone to do their job. Something like that would have never happened here. Maybe it's a midwestern thing.

My weekend too ran by fast, I think warp speed! Doesn't seem like it could possibly be Monday already. Had a great weekend though. Nice Mozart/Shostakovich concert. They did Mozart's Requiem, and the soloists were fantastic! The Shostakovich piece was The Execution of Stepan Razin. That piece was new to me and most enjoyable.
