Oh my god! My boss just threw a pile of papers at me.
I am not kidding. The owner of the firm is a bit....senile and out of it, and I am told tends to lash out onto his employees and scream, but he literally had a pile of reports I had done, and he didn't like a tiny detail, and he threw the whole fucking pile at me. I am just in shock.

Someone just told me to "get used to it". Um, no. I don't care. If he is losing his mind, than I shouldn't have to be the one it is taken out on.

2. What a DICK!! I'd be in shock too.
My instinct at that point would have been to jump to my feet. Don't you "get used to it". You're so much better than that. :)

3. I'd walk
Do the same thing, tell whoever your HR person is that you won't tolerate this crap. If they let you go, hit them up for unemployment, since this is pretty clearly a hostile environment.

4. I think I might
The thing about working for lunatics is that it only gets worse. I have been told by even my immediate supervisor that he does this to everyone, and to get used to it. I don't know about them, but I was not trained to deal with essentially being verbally and physically assaulted at work. I was told that this was the way it is when he is in the office. I have noticed that many other employees are quite agressive, and not in the professional way that is usually said in the workplace. I just recieved another offer this morning, and I am VERY tempted, even though it is less money and more of a risk because it is literally a brand new firm.

So...My lovely life:eyes:

7. Go, run, get out NOW.
Sannum, it will only get worse, and it's not worth what the stress will do to you. I was in a similar situation a year ago with an extremely abusive boss, and I've never been so miserable in my life. Fortunately, his partner announced his pending retirement last fall, and that (the potential long-term instability of the firm) gave me a good excuse to get the hell out (without it looking like I was the one having potential "issues"). I was stressed out constantly, angry and depressed, and it really took a toll on me. If you have another offer, and if you can handle the decrease in pay, TAKE IT.

10. There's no "essentially" here
You were verbally and physically assaulted, period. That entire environment sounds hostile and not conducive to getting a lot done. There is no reason to stay at a job that makes life miserable just because it pays more. Misery at work is a hell of a lot worse than being late on the bills every once in a while.

5. Are you willing to be abused?
It sounds like it doesn't get any better. And I doubt that you'd want any more stress in your life.

Keep your eyes opened, and look for the next opportunity. If they ask any questions, tell them that you expect to be treated as an adult.

6. Sounds like my last "real" boss
A real mental case. He'd stand in the middle of the room and just go into a complete hissy fit- stomping his feet, waving his fists, turning beet-red in the face, and do up one of his Everybody But Me Is Incompetent things. I put up with it for a year before walking off the job one fine day because I was sick up and fed with his crap. It was the last time I worked for anybody.

9. I walked back as I saw them fly at me
He is fucking loaded, so maybe I should have walked foreward. I have discussed this with my supervisor and I will be accepting the job at the other firm. I do not like playing "musical jobs", but this is a massive sign that I need to get out.

I can't believe that people here accept this!

13. I used to work in a kitchen
and I used to have to make marinara sauce in this giant kettle, and the only way to clean it was while it was still HOT. So I'd stand on a crate and line the edge of the kettle with wet towels, to keep from burning myself.

Well one day my asshole boss was pissed about something I did (real or imagined) and pushed me FROM BEHIND. In order to keep from falling I instinctively grabbed at the kettle and burned the fuck out of both my arms.

After some first aid, I punched out to go home, and he said "Where the F are you going?"

Closest I've ever come to murdering someone.

I told him to get fucked and never went back. What sorta pisses me off is my dad still shops there.
