do i have this right? (yes, i am still struggling to get my web site together)

1. compose the pages

2. put them in my FTP (whatever that is)

3. the FTP sends them to my web page

4. something magic happens

5. viola!* instant web site!

I'm only half serious. I got a book, but haven't read it yet. I have an FTP - client? And when I open it, it writes all kinds of stuff on its own. It's cool, but I don't know what it's doing. And I have my site registered (Thanks to No Name No Slogan) and I have one page up, http://www.katzenengel.org but I am not sure how it got there.

2. That's essentially it, yeah.

FTP stand for file transfer protocol. The client is what sends the files to your webserver over the File Transfer Protocol. The webserver is a computer on which the files are then stored and made available to whomever goes to your website's address.

Also, I haven't gotten around to doing that logo for you yet, though I finished finals on Saturday (which is what kept me from having the time to do it). Now that I'm free, if you still need it, I'll try to get it done ASAP.

5. Basically ...all you are doing when you look at web pages is looking..

..at another computer's "stuff"

..Or..in other words..Join your computer to another one in your house and you can
"Surf" it's pages and pictures and stuff.

Only difference is the distance... :)
