His first as a Dodger, ladies and gentlemen.
Houston was ahead 2-1 at the top of the 9th, and Nomar may have saved the game from extra innings securing the 5-2 lead. Still omly one out in the top of the 9th. :-)
It is time for the Dodgers to step up as May draws near...

4. He grew up a Dodger fan |
|
He was born and raised here, and went to high school where Nini's nephew plays football now. :hi:
The only Dodger I never liked was Steve Garvey. Otherwise, I gotta bleed blue. ;-)

At least in L.A. we can pronounce his name correctly... no more of this 'Nomah' stuff. :D

In his first game off the DL Saturday, he went 2 for 4, and the two outs he made were hit hard (one went to the track). He also started a 3-6-1 double play, which takes some pretty good footwork for a guy who's never played first before.

12. Yeah, and Nomar hits the slam |

off one of the best relievers in baseball, Brad Lidge... who was obviously not on tonight, giving up the triple to Lofton and then walking Drew after he had him 0-2.

23. Is that the one that costs about $150 per year? |
|
I'll pass. I've been listening to baseball on radio* for 40 years (that reminds me — the Giants are on), and with the exception of the playoffs and Giants-Dodgers games, it's still good enough.
Plus, I'm a cheap bastard. :D
*Although in the case of the Dodgers, it's part radio, part computer (mlb.com Gameday Audio).

That's not even available here without getting the whole sports package, including stuff like the Amputee Dwarf Lacrosse Channel and Fox Sports Northwest Siberia.
In the basic package, or one up from it, we get Fox Sports Bay Area.

|
...what the old sabermetrician in me would call an inefficient use of resources...you can get any fatm slow slugger to play first--they're a dime-a-dozen...why put Nomar there? And as another old Red Sox fan, I'm hoping he is healthy and productive...hope you guys take care of him down in LA...

31. I dunno, but I usually don't second-guess deals |
|
I figure managers and coaches and scouts and GMs know more than we do.
Apparently the switch to first was tied in with getting Furcal. But I didn't understand either deal, really, unless the Dodgers didn't figure on Izturis being healthy again.
I liked it much better in the old days when they had the best minor league system in baseball and built for the future. Now it's like they're building for October and the hell with 2007.

32. Yeah--from about 1940 to 1990, the Dodgers had the best organization in ba |
|
--bar none. And it's sort of floated away...which is a shame, because that was part of baseball tradition--the Dodhers always knew what they were doing...I hope they find that touch again...
