Question: How will high gas prices affect the price of pot? |
|
I mean think about it - even if the pot is grown organically, and outdoors...transportation, fertilizers etc...
I shit thee not - I was once given the explanation that the price of 1/8 oz went from $50 to $60 overnight because of "9-11"

1. It never occurred to me to wonder. |

That's one area of the economy that really doesn't affect me. :P

The last time (admittedly a number of years ago) that *anyone* I know bought an eighth, it was $20!

3. Inflation, my dear Lara.... |
|
Strangely, the Medical Marijuana clubs in CA and easy access did not lower the price...

Although I suppose cigarettes have doubled in price since I started smoking, in '94.

5. I've wondered that, too |

But then I realized that if I were buying drugs and if someone gave me that excuse for a reason why prices were so high I could ask them what the gram/gallon/mile ratio was. It's not like pot is top soil, bricks, or sandbags. It's weed. If it's any good it's light and fluffy

7. I don't know about a price correlation |

However, I do know that (non-indoor hydro) supplies would tighten up around here whenever they'd jump the terror alert from yellow up to orange. (Of course, this is purely anecdotal evidence from *ahem* people.)
Apparently, a fair amount of the "normal" NYC pot comes from Canada; when the alert goes up, I guess it's harder to get drugs across the border.

8. Big busts usually raise the price more |
|
Everyone who touches the stuff makes money on it though. I am sure that some people somewhere along the line will use every oppurtunity to have an excuse.
