I am officially an adult. I have owned a skirt so long it's back in style. |
|
It's a printed tiered skirt. I've had this skirt since 1992 at the latest. I found it at the bottom of a drawer, when I was packing to move. It looks just like everything I saw at Target. (Not that Target is the height of couture, but you know what I mean.)
I have no idea what to wear it with (in 1992 I wore it with an off-white cardigan and black shell -- or maybe vice versa). But it does fit -- I'm only a little bigger than I was in 1992 and skirts are forgiving that way.

2. Heh..."sad" update on the situation. |
|
I tried the skirt on again, this time in front of a mirror.
"Fits" doesn't mean "looks good." Eek. Even though my body weight isn't all that much more, I guess it's distributed differently (which makes sense -- I was 17 then, and am 30 now).
I am not going to bother asking my (honest -- he would tell me) SO if my butt looks big in that skirt. The answer is yes.

3. If you're old enough to wear a fashion |
|
the second time around -- don't. <-- Just something I read somewhere. I'm sure it excludes classic items.
Perhaps you could market it as a vintage item on eBay?

6. It probably wouldn't be worth it - similar skirts go for $14.99 at Target. |
|
I'll just stick it in the freecycle box...

and skirts are so much cooler for FL summers. I look like I'm playing dress-up in those things - too wide and "busy"

9. Yep...I'm a hair shy of 5'2" myself. |

I looked OK in this when I was 17 -- or maybe I didn't and I thought I did.
Looks like, if I want some summer skirts, I'll have to hit someplace pricier (where A-lines seem to still exist) or vintage storea (fine, it's cheaper anyway and I have a very 1950s shape).
